2008 A6 3.2 S-Line with all the bells and whistles. I want to kill myself. Its a very nice car, its amazingly comfortable but I almost fell asleep trying to drive it. I would never buy this car for myself, but I could honestly see it as an amazing wifemobile (I'm not married), but thats about it.

You should be glad you got an Audi for a loaner. My dealer gives you either a Huckin Fonda or a Mazda. When you're driving one of those turd mobiles around, you really appreciate the S4.

Re: S4 in for service, Driving A6 Loaner...

Been driving it a bit more, a few details:

The ride is ridiculously comfortable, damn near too comfortable. My 94' Lincoln on air suspension was the previous comfort record holder for me, but that A6 beats it by a hair. That said, it isn't as planted in corners, and the body roll is very noticeable. I prefer the S4.

The interior feels more vast. Everything seems larger but it is still a calming place to be sitting. Feels more luxo and less sporty, but thats what its designed to be.

The power sucks, it just plain tame. My Lincoln would blow this thing out of the water, I don't even think there is a point to compare this to an S4.

Recognition is nice... I had to turn left across traffic on a two lane road, and the same model (different color) A6 stopped his entire lane to let me turn... I was absolutely blown away. There is no doubt in my mind that the guy driving would have just gone by me if I wasn't in an Audi.

The A6 is almost perfectly balanced between sport and luxury so I can understand why the sportier freaks wouldn't appreciate it but I think it's an all around excelent car. Just out of curiousity, how do you feel about the A8?

Did you get this loaner from Continental?
They're usually good about giving Audi loaners if you ask in advance.

Never drove an A8, but I'm sure its even towards the luxury end and further from the sporty. Again, these are ALL great cars with different purposes, but I'm still partial to the sportiness of the S4.

Yes it was at Continental, they asked if I wanted an A4 or A6 so I thought I'd change it up a bit by picking the different model line.

Re: S4 in for service, Driving A6 Loaner...

I drove an A6 when my A4 was in for service. The A6 was definitely plush yet it still had a sporty feel to it. I wouldn't buy one mainly because I don't need that much room anymore but it sure was nice to drive such a luxurious car. Actually I had a first gen A6 4.2, it might have even been the first model year and it definitely needed some work especially in the handling department. It was just slightly larger than my B7 A4. And it was impressive for all of the technological stuff Audi was doing with it. I love Audi.
