    Mechanic/Bodyman Question

Hey everybody. I was thinking about purchasing a 2003 Audi TT Roadster. It was rear-ended and I was wondering if I can get some input from mechanics or bodymen at what I would need to get fixed or replaced. It appears that the frame might be pushed downward by a few inches below the passenger tail light. Would that be fixable? Also, whats a ballpark figure at what I would be spending to get the rear fixed. I have found a rear clip for a 1000 and will be able to get the car for around 6,500.

    Re: Mechanic/Bodyman Question

It's hard to tell from the pic if the suspension was touched. If not, it might be worth it. Just consider that you're at $7500 before you even start, add body work, paint and possibly rear suspension parts and you're at 10-12k, which is still decent for an 03, but you can pick up a pristine one that's never been hit in the mid-teens. Unless you have a friend or relative in the body work business, this could get expensive and may not be worth it.

I bought an 01 coupe back in 02 with a hard front end hit, (bags didn't deploy), and I put about 6k into fixing it. I t was worth it back then because they were still selling in the mid 20's. I drove it for a year and sold it for 19k.

I assume it has a clean title?

    Re: Mechanic/Bodyman Question

Nope, salvage title. Thanks for the input. It's making me think. Speaking of which I have the opportunity of buying an 01 with a front hit. Airbags and everything were not deployed. Frame looks to be in good condition. Being that the retail on the 01 is around 10k now and I can get the parts and paint for about 2k do you think it is worth it? It would be around 5k for everything. But thats me doing all the labor. Also, I am assuming that the car did not start when you bought your '01. What did it take to get the engine back to working condition? A new one?
