    I believe it's metalized plastic... plastic that is powdercoated using a vacuum metal process - IOW, makes powdercoat look like chrome. It's cheaper and far less toxic than the chroming process which is dwindling.

    So unfortunately, no real solution from what I know.

    If I learn more information, I will post it.
