5 min car PC install...

I've always wanted a car PC but didn't like the idea of gutting the HU plus finding a place to mount the CPU, fan, etc... So I decided to get something else. It's not the cleanest install, but it's all in one, it does everything I would want to do in my car; listen to music (and wireless download songs), check emails, google map feature, browse the internet, watch full length movies in HD quality, play games, check the weather, takes notes, and organize my schedule. It's an ipod touch!


For internet, I have a Sprint Aircard and Wireless EVDO Router. The router gives me about 2.5 hours of continuos surfing without a charge. I just turn it on when I need to connect tho so it can last a whole 8 hour day, just using it here and there. I keep it in the glove box or in the center console.




Sometime soon, I'll look for a way to mount it a bit cleaner to the car but for now, it's great! Practically no install time...and I can take it out of the car whenever.

That's why I never did a PC car installation. They cost a grip and you have to get it put it. And if you sell the car, you gotta take it out or sell it.

The beauty of using the ipod touch is that I just snatch it out of my car. I pretty much use this thing as a laptop. Once you jailbrake it (hack) there are over 300 apps you can install from productivity tools to games, etc. I can do most of my work on it (and browse Audizine) when away from the studio.


To Tiesto: Once in a blue moon I'll download a song via itunes. 99% of my music comes from "other" source.

Who makes the router, i need something for my car, I think im going to put a removable laptop mount in my car for the long trips...
