s4 rear sway... is it worth it?

just picked up an avant, so the parts hunt begins. i just ordered coilovers and was wondering if the minor upgrade to an s4 rear sway is worth it?

the H bars are $$$ are so are the neuspeeds, and im just looking for an upgrade, not an overkill.

rear sway is definitely worth it. go with the neuspeed if you can, idk how much of a difference an s4 one would make, because that's what i started with. i got my neuspeed used for $200. you can find them pretty cheap around.

IIRC, the S4 and A4 sport rear sway are the same. Could be wrong..

If you're going to pay for it, might as well go ahead and spend the extra $ to get a nice one that you can really tell the difference with.

Correct, S4 = A4 sport. I paid $50 for one and it was worth it at the time, going from non-sport. It was a noticeable change. Didn't take long before I went to H-Sports, though. Also, factor in the $30-40 you'll have to spend to upgrade the uplinks. The OEM plastic ones are crap and you'll likely end up having to cut them off anyway.

Looks like it's $30-40 per side. I thought they were less. Autohausaz has Moog/Meyle, both for just under $70 and the shipping is free.

I only want a minor drop nothing drastic....but I'll definately look into getting this bar!

Also might look into upgrading into a OEM A4 sport suspension set-up!

Re: s4 rear sway... is it worth it?

The metal sway bar links will make the biggest difference. There is MAJOR flex in the factory rubber ones.
Keep in mind if you upgrade to a big bar (larger than stock) you need to brace your sway bar mount. This will also make the sway bar more effective.

Combine doing those items with an S4 rear sway and you should be riding fairly decent. Myself though I have the largest one I could find w/ it sent on full stiff... But I like controlled oversteer personally.

Do the complete set of S4 or A4 Sport sways. They're dirt cheap and there's definitely a difference.

Re: s4 rear sway... is it worth it?

The H-Sport bars do not come with end links. I just replaced them this weekend. I got metal rears and new OEM fronts for 99.75 shipped on ebay.

I ran without the bars - just stock sport struts and springs - for a month and put the bars back on Saturday. It actually rides a little better with the bars with the exception of large manhole covers or potholes. I've also run with just the rear on stiff but it wasn't like it had snap oversteer or anything. The front bar is what really makes a difference on our cars.

I'm pretty sure a4 sport sways and s4 sways had different part numbers.

Also, I remember the differences being

    16mm non sport
    18mm sport
    20mm s4
    22mm rs4

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Search for the part number I listed above and it will specify the size. Replace the D with an A, then add a G at the end to get the non-sport.
