Full Exhaust MOD (F.I. or Labree)

I am probably calling Danny tomorrow to order a downpipe & catback system. Considering Labree...still waiting to see their numbers; I think their wide tips look nice. Do they basically sound the same?

A little intimidated about attempting the project. How tough is this to do? I couldn't find a DIY. Only tip I really remember reading in the past was to mark the O2 sensors.

It's worth it to pay a shop to do it unless you have another person to help and a nice selection of tools, extensions and universal joints. Danny at Fast Intentions is great but his exhausts are a little raspy. Some like it, actually most like it.

You can't go wrong with either one. I have Labree builded a custom CB for my Wifey's C5 S6 and she is happy with it. I had Danny(F.I.) made me a X pipe-resonated CB for my B6 S4, sounds awesome!! BTW, both use Sebring parts for their systems(very similar outcome).

Re: Full Exhaust MOD (F.I. or Labree)

Just changed my downpipe and catback this past weekend. The downpipe was a pain. Very hard to get to. I was lucky because I had an air wrench and lots of extentions, univerals etc. Without these I would have never been able to get it off. I was also on my back under the car with jacks and stands for an entire day. Its a real tough spot to get into, but you can do it at home. I put on some APR's and they are OK. I think I have a leak where the DP's meet the catback. The clamps I used suck. If you know someone that can put the DP's for a resonable price then you should have them do it.

Re: Full Exhaust MOD (F.I. or Labree)

My nephew has all the facy tools but it sounds like a pretty tough job. Is this typically a 3-4 hour job for a shop? I'll ask my local mechanic what he'll charge. Would it be patronizing of me to tell a mechanic to mark the O2 sensors so he puts them back in the correct position?

    Thanks!

Go for it yourself. Grab a case of beer, invite a friend or relative over to help you out and have fun with it. You will learn something new and enjoy doing it at the same time.

Just make sure you have the right tools to do the swap. I cant wait to get my FI this week and throw it on!!!

If you do one side at a time there is no need to label. The front O2 sensor will not reach the rear position so I really have no idea how people could get these mixed up the only thing you have to worry about is mixing up the left and right sensor. Doing it yourself is fine just save a good portion of the day and get an aircompressor and an air wrench.

The job by a reputable shop is a minimum of 4 hours in total. The engine bay is tight like a virgin but once the downpipes are on, the rest is pretty rudimentary. I would suggest paying a shop which should run you around $400.
I have a full labree exhaust system, but with resonated straight pipes(no mufflers).
