Tip tranny stoped working......WHY?

So im driving my car today, and i go up this hill and nothing happens, the car revs high and wont move, i turn it off , turn it back on, still nothing, the car can go in reverse but wont move in first gear, i had to get it towed home and now gota find a tranny shop, i tell you this car has been giving me more problems than anything i have ever seen, and i dont even drive it hard, but do any of you have any idea what this could be???

Did it feel like it dumped into a gear (clunking sound) while driving, maybe 4th, and you ahve to accelerate a lot to get it to move forward?
When mine did that, it was the trany going into limp mode to protect itself.

no, it just wont move, and the gears have the red box around them, and the check engine light came on. And i had to push down very far, like maybe 4k rpm just to get it to go 5mph

If so, have you latrely changes from stock to chipped or vice versa...?

What do you do to get it our of limp mode? Mine is starting to have the hesitation that it does not want to get out of gear, holds the RPM's longer then slams into next gear...only does it sometimes.

hmmm well you have low mileage right?
I dunno but I doubt you killed the tranny... Maybe something small but enough for the tranny to go im limp mode to protect itself...
hard to say without seeing the car, having the codes...

it only has 69K on it, it couldn't be the tranny, and nothing is leaking

Although if it was broke it probably wouldn't move at all.... just trying to help think of possibilities

my tranny pump blew a seal and i got a stuck tc code..... check the pan and tranny fluid... scan for codes... if you get stuck tc code fill her up with atf........... make sure you giot trans fluid.........

Pull the codes and post em up here. if you have DTC17125, do NOT drive the car, even if it comes out of limp mode. Once we see the codes we can better advise you.

It wont move, but it goes in reverse.

I use a VAG-COM(Key-Com cable) to pull codes from my car. If you don't have access to one, your local AutoZone should have a reader that would be able to pull the DTC. The software I use was downloaded here:http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/index.html

I had the same thing happen twice:
- after installing the stg3 tip chip, was an ecryption issue
- after switching fomr stock to chip or vice versa on APR CC switch

But yuo don't have either...

It does soun like you're in limp mode so the tranny knows to protect, don't drive it.

YOu ahve to get a code reader even if a chepa $40 one like mine or the VAG

Took it to a local indy shop today, they vaged it and restet and everything is fine now, just threw a code!!!! thank god!

I just got my torque converter replacd yesturday after I threw 17125 under warranty thank god. One question, have you had any trouble since the tc change, how has your car changed?? Im really pissed that they had to drop my tranny and swap out my tc at 45k

There is a good chance your Tranny could go too. When the TC's seal goes bad, it overpressurizes the transmission and ruins it. That is why I advised you to not drive the car if you had the "death code"

make sure this is documented with your dealer and AoA.

Well it threw the code on Monday afternoon and I only drove it the next morning to Audi. I don't know what to do now, I have about 10 months left on my CPO warranty and I know that as soon as the warranty expires my tranny will go bad lol

That's ok as long as the repair is documented with your dealer and AoA. Let's say your tranny craps out in 12 months, 2 months after warranty is done. As long as this repair is documented, AoA will very likely grant you a goodwill repair.

My suggestion is to call AoA and tell them your TC was recently replaced and you are very pleased with the service your dealer provided, however, based on other's experience, you are concerned about related transmission problems down the road. get them to document the repair and provide you with a case file # that you can reference in the future.

And to ease your fears, if you did not drive the car much, you should be ok. And if the transmission is bad, it will probably go quickly.

np, when you think of all the things that might go wrong with the car it gets scary. I'm in Manhattan on the Upper West. My mom grew up in Queens, my uncle still lives in Bayside.

no, we found out why it trew a code, they guy i took it to , to do the springs/shocks, ran it on a lift, to listen for a noise i was geting, and i guess somehow the front wheels turned but the rears didn't. the guy at the indy garage said, the code come back, somthing like "error in gear ratio" or somthing, he checked the fluid, and it runs just fine, just a small little glitch i guess.
