Need Help Finding DIY Oil Change for B6 S4

Hey guys, I recently picked up an 04 S4 and I'm not too sure if the dealer changed the oil, and before it's too late I'd like to change it myself. I used to own an A6 2.7T and changed my oil all the time, now that I'll need 10qts and a new filter application, I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on the situation. I was hoping to find a DIY on the filter change but came up with nothing. Can anyone help with the location of the oil filter or some photos??? It would be much appreciated. Thanks

easy job pull the engine trim over your tb ......24mm cap on a cartridge oil filter setup. replace the oring, drain is a 10mm hex and a crush washer (replace) washer comes separate from filter. do not add 10qts. add 8 start for 15 sec, check and top off as required. enjoy

make sure you get a crush washer first, if you can't get an audi one, the Volkswagen Touraeg fits too, you just need one. You better off buying oil in 5 quart containers, they take about 8 quarts, maybe more. Also make sure you put the underbody panel back on properly, mines fell off somehow.

    Here's how I change mine.

I though I'd share the products I used for those interested…

The extractor is extremely easy to use (make sure the oil is warm, not hot). Just push the correct sized tube (you get three) down the dip-stick hole to the bottom and pump the handle a few times to create a vacuum. The tubes they provide aren’t quite long enough so you’ll have to raise the extractor off the groung a bit by placing it on a box or something. I use a plastic milk crate. While the oil is extracting I replace the oil filter. The filter is located on top of the engine, under the trim cover with the Audi logo, at the rear. You’ll see a black plastic domed cover with a plastic nut molded into the top…the filter is inside.

NEW- PELA PRO 14 LITER OIL EXTRACTOR

OLD- PELA EXTRACTOR $79 from Griot’s Garage (fine for my Z, but too small for the S4)

    Lubro Moly VOLL-Synthese (5 W-40 Full Synthetic Motor Oil) - 5 Litres x2, $35 ea. ($83.38 shipped) from http://catalog.etyparts.com/item.wws...y&clientid=ety

    FILTER

    Mann HU 835/1 x oil filter, $15.53 ea (pack of 4, $62.12 shipped) http://www.germanfilters.com/2004-au...k-p-55729.html

I also purchased a fuel filter but haven't installed it (I haven’t looked in to where it’s located...anyone done it?).

Hope this helps, have a good one…Steve

x2 on the extractor. You shouldn't have a lot/any of sediment at the bottom of the pan if you change it while the car is warm (just after a drive).
Cool stuff with a little growl!
