price for 2001.5 S4 120K?

My friend's got a S4 he wants sell it to me for 8K.
It had prob with ECU, which recently just got fixed with GIAC chipped ECU, but now, clutch's gone.
for clutch it should cost 1K only for parts, right?
And probably need new timing belt soon also.
And it needs tie rod ends which i'm planning to get whole control arm kit if I get the car.
And still has stock turbo's.
It's dark dark blue with white leather, what would be good price for it?

What was the problem with the ecu that it got "fixed" by getting a chipped one?

What kind of clutch kit are you looking at that's 1k for parts? Even an RS4 clutch is less than half that.

Timing belt kit needs to be done now if it's original.

Tie rod ends are easy.. Check then control arms before buying the kit..It's pricey and might not be needed(but at 120k, maybe..).

I have no idea what the problem with the ECU was. The car Stopped while driving, we checked everything but the prob was the ECU. It didn't even communicate with Vag-com.

And for clutch, I was talking about clutch kit + new flywheel. Isn't it still close 1K?
And timing belts has been changed sometime before 90K, he's second owner, so not sure when exactly.
And control arms look fine, only driver side tie rod end is loose, but to be safer side, I kinda want to replace as whole...
So considering all that, do you think it's worth paying him 8K?
I always wanted an Avant, but if this is a better, I'd stick with this...
or should I forget about it and get an all stock Avant with lower mileage?

So is this your car or what? Your post about the slipping clutch says it's yours. And then you have another thread saying you really want an Avant 6spd...So I would be buying the car I wanted and dumping money into that one, not settling for one that needs a sh*t ton of work done..

It's my friend's I worked on, haven't bought it from him Yet.
I just said it's mine cuz it's easier to explain that way...
So it basically needs clutch, flywheel, and tie-rod end...and timing belt and turbos sometime later...so you think it's not worth getting this car?

Hard to say, How's your piggy bank? If you don't mind dishing out cash then
8k for a 6speed avant doesn't sound bad buti'm not one to make great decisions anyway.

Doesn't seem to be that special of a car. I'd skip it.

It took me a year to find a Nogaro in my price range, that was in decent shape. I have seen so many S4s with a lot less miles than mine, that run like shit. I took a chance and its been rewarding me so far. Good luck in your decision.

8k is for his buddies car, don't think it's an avant..could be wrong..

Yea, 8K for my buddy's sedan with clutch, and tie rod end need to be done right now and timing belt and turbo's sometime soon...and a wagon i'm lookin is w.74K, all stock, Nogaro Blue, looks clean, for prob a way over $15K...on eBay reserve set for 18K.
and I always wanted a fun wagon...but I don't mind a sedan if it's a good deal...

with 120k and a good amount of things broken leads me to believe it was taken care of very well. To be honest, i wouldnt buy it. Unless your huge on doing everything your self offer 7k and build that bitch up from the ground.
