    Re: A4 or Accord coupe

I would go with the Accord, considering it's brand new- warranty coverage is longer, less maintenance, newer model, better mpg, reliable, and valuable in the long run. By the time you're ready to get an Audi, you can trade-in/sell your Honda. Hondas keep its re-sale value high. If I could've afforded a brand new Accord last year, I would've gone with the Accord. I got the A4 for $17k at the time so it was hard to find a new accord with the same amenities and price. Now I've pretty much spent almost $2k and counting just for maintenance and repairs...It's a great car for sure, but if you're looking to be more practical..Accord's the way to go...

    Then again it's your choice....

    Re: A4 or Accord coupe

not to bash front trac but if you want the complete audi experience get a quattro usp...
if price is the same, the new honda will have a decent warranty.... is the audi a cpo? even if it is, it will only be covered until late '09 early '10. But the assured warranty is pretty comprehensive. If you choose the audi make sure it is a cpo and go over it with a fine tooth comb immediately after purchase. (obviously check it out before, but it is easy to overlook things when your excited and while it is on the ground) Peeling: switches, a/c control head, radio, door panel inserts. Leather imperfections/damage most likely won't be covered later. Check axle boots, tie rod ends, fluid seepage....(leaks are covered) won't be covered but the dealer is responsible to remedy these things for the vehicle to qualify for the certified pre-owned status. (sometimes things can get overlooked) make sure the audi has an excellent service record. thats my 2 cents...... good luck

you cannot even drive an accord. the brand new ones have dead center center, numb steering, high amounts of steering assist and body roll/nose dive and torque steer like no other. its insane that a 104K 7+ year old car can totally lay waste to a brand new car with less then 100 miles on it in terms of feeling, handling, and looks (face it the accord is fugly).

    Re: A4 or Accord coupe

I'm driving a '07 Accord right now as a rental while my car is being repaired. So far, I must say I'm pretty impressed. I can see why people and magazines choose the Accord.

My opinion after having it for 5 days:

    Pros:
    Much roomier than the A4
No console to bump your right knee into
    Gas mileage/economy
    Very peppy for a 4cyl (170hp version)
    Comfortable
    Nicely bolstered seats

    Cons:
Doesn't have the "solid German" feel

If I were to look at a new car, I'd seriously consider the Accord, coupe or sedan. I do like the Coupe styling better than the Sedan. So far driving this for almost a week now, it's a very good car.

The new new accords are actually pretty nice ... I don't like the front bumper but whatever

    Re: A4 or Accord coupe

i work at a honda dealership. the accord coupes look alright, MUCH better than the sedans...but do you really want an ass that big? plus the overall size of the car isnt much smaller than an a4. and the accords arnt even worth it unless you get the v6 6spd and even then you lose awd...but your in cali so probably doesnt matter to you. personally, i would go with the ultrasport in a heartbeat. cant deny that USPs are sexy.

on the maintenence thing...IMHO i really dont believe in certain cars having "less" maintenace than others. i believe (based on my experience with the 3 cars ive owned) that if you keep up with your preventive maintenance and the previous owner(s) did as well, the car will be fine. all cars are going have problems. preventive maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, 10k 15k 30k 60k services, etc. will catch things BEFORE they fail. this doesnt mean you wont get any CEL's on the dash, because as cars get older(no matter the brand) thats almost un-avoidable.

dude steering and handling sucks so bad i wouldn't let me wife drive one. she'd smash it. she learned to drive a 750il, then 330ci then A4 quattro. that would be like setting someone up for the bomb. or putting me behind a big-rig ice road trucking. death.

    Re: A4 or Accord coupe

When I was buying my A4 I too considered an Accord Coupe. I was looking at my 2002 A4 quattro vs. a 2005 honda accord coupe ex v6 -- and I chose the A4. Why? Well -- besides all of the reasons listed above, I wanted the car to be a treat to myself, something I could enjoy everytime I sat inside. I don't think any honda will ever do that to you.

The honda was an amazing car, but it just doesn't have that edge. Not to mention its one of the most common cars on the road.

The 08 accord coupe does look pretty nice, but in the end of the day, you will still be driving something every other person is going to get in the next few years. Atleast the A4 will be rare.

    I say A4.

I have found that the ONLY car interiors I like are German. ALL Asian/American cars have cheap looking interiors. Even the Lexus's interiors look cheap (hell, its still a Toyota!). While the Accord is a little bit faster, I say get the A4. A vast majority of people don't know how slow our cars are. They just think "Wow you drive an Audi and you're in college! You've got bank!"

Not to be a fanboy or anything...but German Engineering FTMFW!

For the most part, I would say the Accord is the 'better' car of the two, but if image is all you're concerned about, then I wouldn't get either. Spend the same amount of cash and get something older.

Tough choice. The honda is gonna get ragged on here cuz its an audi forum. my dad bought the 08 honda, I bought an 02 a4. His car is faster with the v6. His seats are more comfortable but other than that the honda interior is cheaper. The audi is def way more luxury then the accord but you resale will be good on both. maintence will be way less on the honda. If u drive in snow get the a4. if you want to have a new car get the honda. If you want girls to want to have your babies get the a4. that said both good cars.

    zach

pearl is really nice in the new accord.

a friend of mine works at a Honda dealership and I was up there a few weeks ago and saw the new Accord coupe. It's pretty nice looking. The front is real aggressive and it has a nice stance. The interior is nice as well, kind of Star Trek-y though. I like the Accord coupe and the Civic coupe alot. Having said that, I would rather have a used audi than a new Honda. But you can't really go wrong with either car. Both are sweet.

Get what you can afford. Their is no doubt that that any German automobile will require more money to maintain. The high end luxury feeling certainly does come with a hefty price tag. Yes both the Honda and Audi will require "normal" maintenance, however, the Audi will certainly nickel and dime you slowly, or drive you insane if you aren't a enthusiast that does all the appropriate preventative measures. example: Coilpacks/boostleaks etc etc. So i vote what you can afford and what is more practical for YOU.

If i had to pick to be slow i would rather be slow in style rather than slow and fugly. I have owned both German And jap cars and You cant really compare the two, the accord is a nice economy car while the A4 is a Luxury Sedan.

    Re: A4 or Accord coupe

Well, my opinion: If you have the extra money in the bank all the time, then the A4. You just put one foot in the upper middle class (even though you got it cheap but who the hell knows, the girls will be "aww, nice car!"). If you're trying hard to get the car then the Accord. It save money and it save a lot. Maintenance cost is nothing much between the two or any cars IMO. Changing oil, filter... they're cheap and the price is not that much different BUT just with an engine check light on, the Audi will cost you 2-4x more than the Accord.

gas price, I don't even care. It's probably $100 more for the Audi every 2-3 months but who cares, you spent that much money on a Audi. That's a small number (considering the fact that you bypass all the risks of costing $$$$ more to get an Audi).

I can't make it any clearer for you. It's your budget that only you who have control over.

    Re: A4 or Accord coupe

dude you guys have either not driven an accord or all have fwd audi's with 15 wheels on non-sport suspension. in which case the audi would still rock out in handling compared to the honda.

now if they'd but the 2.4 turbo motor in that would be something more interesting
