Knock Sensor is on it's way out...???? Please Help!

I have a 2004 S4 w/39K and recently the engine doesn't sound throaty and there seems to be a loss of power. I checked my codes and a code for the knock sensor, unfortunately I didn't think enough to write it down...I cleared it and took it out to see if it would come back but it didn't...I know that probably would help...if it comes back I'll add it to this tread...I believe it said, short to ground (low)...is that why the car's performance is being effected?

Have you had your car jumpstarted in recent days and/or had a new battery installed yet?
