Buying a 2006 Audi A4, is this a good price?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi, I am located in Chicago, Found a CPO 2006 A4 Silver and Black interior w/ S-Line, Navi, and Prim pack. It has 27k miles. They are trying to sell me this car for $31,000 Out the Door. What do you guys think of this deal? Do you guys think if there is any more room left for me to negotiate?
    Thank you!

Re: Buying a 2006 Audi A4, is this a good price?

That car is highly overpriced. I recently bought a 2006 S-line quattro with titanium package and 29k miles for $23,800. Granted, I bought my car extremely well, I think the value of a 2006 s-line with ~30k mi is around $25k.

^ Thank you for the information!
Is you A4 certified Pre-Owned Audi? I think it's overpriced, even with S-Line and Navi, between $28k to $29 should be the reasonable range.

31 out the door is not bad IF that includes ALL fees and no surprises at the end. that means that the car is around 28k with 3k in taxes tags etc. i would offer him 29k out the door, then he says no, then you say ok fine 29,999 out the door and thats my final offer. if they say no then tell them youll go home to think about it. i think knocking 1k off of a car is easy to do and 30k sounds fair for the car you speak of.

I think it's a little high, you should try and talk them down a little. I got my 06 A4 (no s-line, no navi) for 20k with 19,000miles. so if you think navi and sline are worth another 10-11k go for it. I love my car.

Yea, I know even with the S-line and Navi, it still seems a little high on the price. However, does CPO play a major factor in the price?

Re: Buying a 2006 Audi A4, is this a good price?

Firstly, I don't understand "out the door". I'm sure this means different things to different people and car price comparisons should never include taxes if that's part of what you mean by "out the door". Can you clarify if $31k is the price of the car?

If you buy from an Audi dealer and it's CPO'd, you're always going to pay a premium. That said, I don't put much stock in that. If you're buying an 06 you've got at least 2 years left of warranty and service is included. If you're planning on keeping the car for several years, then I guess you need to determine what the extended warranty is worth to you. It's not worth $6k IMO.

Re: Buying a 2006 Audi A4, is this a good price?

By $31k "out the door", I mean the price of car plus taxes, tittle, registration, and licenses. Nothing extra on top of that. This is what I always do when shopping for car, I always ask salesperson for Out the Door price, because that way I don't have to play the "this fee, that fee" game with them.

Therefore, the price for the car itself would be around $28200. I am pretty sure to keep the car for 2+ years, and that is why I want to purchase a CPO one. However, can I purchase the extended warranty anytime in the future if I didn't get a CPO one?

    I would get a 04-05 m3 if I had 31k

for 25k an 06 s-line 2.0 would be my choice. Louis J., you made a pretty sweet deal.

    $25k is really a bargain for a 06 S-line'd A4

i agree. But you can probably get it done. Look at Louis. An S-line is the way I'd go. Hardly have to mod the looks of the car. Those things look hot stock.

I understand, however, you may want to use the $28,200 price as the basis for you to get opinions on the price of the car.

I have a friend who owns an Audi dealership and has access to the Audi Finance auctions where all the ex-lease, corporate, demos etc get auctioned. A couple of months ago when I was shopping for mine, the price range for an 06 s-line was between $23k and $24.5k depending on options and mileage. A dealer then needs to invest ~$1k in auction fees, transport and inspecting the car before it goes on the lot. They wil also need to make at least ~$1k profit. So, from my vantage point, ~$26.5k would be an equitable deal for both parties. Hope this helps.

The mileage is a little high for that price. If I could get it "out the door" for around 27-29k I think It wouldn't be too shabby.

So here is the final agreement:
$30400 out the door, which includes the price of the car, Taxes, Title, Registration, and License. This car is a 06, with 27k miles, S-line, Navi, Bose, Convenience, and tech packs.
    How does this sound now?

Wow. I wouldn't pay more than 28,5 out the door for an 06 with that kind of mileage. But if thats the car you want...go for it! I hope it comes with a 100k warranty for that price.

I'd say even at $28k it's over priced. I got my CPO over a year ago for $25k (everything is the same as the one you're looking at except no s-line and it's an 05.5) I know mine is a year older, but it's been a year since I got it so you're basically looking at the same thing. I know S-lines are hard to find, but I'd keep looking if they won't bring the price down more.

My lease turn in was $26,200 and that was an '06 2.0t 6speed with 24k on it at the time, tech, prem, headlight washers, side airbags, sport suspension.

Seems about fair with tax and everything included. Don't forget that the maintainence is included on '06s and I'm pretty sure it was transferable

    $31K seems high to me..

there are two loaded S-line cars priced locally (orange county, ca) for $26 and $25.5K.. They are both 2.0 quattro.

Out the door, that isn't that horrible of a price. It is alright, but there are better prices out there... but being an S-line, those are hard to find a good one used. So contrags on your purchase I hope to see you at the Chicago g2g/cruises this summer!

28 out the door would be a fair price...put cash on the table and show them ur not joking around. obv they wont agree on that price so then negotiate to 28500 or walk. I guess it depends how much u like the car. I am in the market for a CPO 30k or less sline+navi +stick and its hard to even find them if it was the exact car i was looking for i would pay 25,000 or maybe 26,000 depending on my mood

and make that out the door pricing *including tax* and it isn't that bad. Not a great deal but if its the car you want you are willing to pay that little bit more as opposed to waiting for the "good deal"

I really hope you listen to everyone advising you that its overpriced by several thousand. With the info you've provided us, $26k taxes, title and CPO would be a fair price. If it were an 07 loaded with nav, s-line and or titanium package then i suppose i could pay $30.

    NO USED '05.5 - 07 2.0T A4 should be over $30k

I dont know if I didnt express myself clearly or what??
I said several times, the $30k is out the door price, which includes taxes, title, registrationa nd license. Therefore, the car alone is only $27.6k with basically every option possible for 2006.
Once again, the car is sold for $27.6k, after taxes and titles, it comes to $30.4k.

Out the door or not, it's still overpriced. Even more so with the new B8's coming out and dealers hustling to push older A4's off the lot. I bought mine new 10 months ago for $30.5k out the door (also includes tax, title, license, etc.) and bought the Audi RNS-e navigation unit for $1300. Our A4's aren't exactly BMW's when it comes to holding its value...

... but it doesn't really matter at this point, you already have the car so congrats.

Congrats! You'll be glad you got the s-line even if it cost a bit more... Every time I see one on the street I kick myself for not holding out a little longer to get it.

There is always a better deal out there. If you are cool with the price then so be it. Thank god there is no tax on purchases in Oregon.
