So the market is pretty good if you are buying a car right now.

It seems there is a silver lining to all this economic doom and gloom talk if you are looking to buy cars. All of the dealers i have been talking with are hurting for sales badly enough, especially in the luxury segment that if you wheel and deal a little bit you can get a pretty solid deal.

    I just picked up a 2006 A3
    Lava Grey
    Premium Package
    Sport Package
    Xenon's
    6 Disc Changer
    Open Sky
    6 Speed Manual
    Under 25,000 Miles

    for $18,500

This is especially brilliant if you are Canadian like I am, because that same car is $30,000 up here. Good Stuff, I have been bummed since selling my GTI and now I have a German car again, I am rather excited.

Welcome and congrats! That's a great price!

One thing though - if the dealer told you that car has BOTH premium and sport packages, then they weren't truthful. 2006's either came with one or the other, but not both.

    That's Amazing

I'm outside Winnipeg, and was looking at going to Minneapolis to do the same thing...you just made it even harder to resist.
I own a budget Audi...VW. Anyone want to give donations?

    I got a similar deal:

    I just picked up a 2006 A3
    Silver
    Premium Package
    Cold Weather Package
    Open Sky
    DSG
    XM Radio
Package with Auto Dimming Mirror, heated outside mirrors, etc
    27,000 Miles

    for the same $18,500

They were originally asking $22,700 - and the salesman told me I could have it for the 18.5 when I returned the next day with my wife and kids for a second test drive. I didn't even have to dicker. Got the AC replaced the very next week (when it failed). I've got a short list of additional items that they missed in their 120 point inspection, but Harpers seems very eager and willing to please as they said they'd fix it all.
Yeah, times are good if you're in the market for a car.

Canadian car economy is a joke.

Much rather goto the US and buy then buy from Canada. Let them suffer for themselves, and they will learn the hard way! Nice find. This has been the best way to go for about 2 years now, just never hit media until end of last year really. I think even the used car world dealers are going to the State auctions to grab cars. Making buying new in Canada even more useless because depreciation will destroy you.

I want to get an A3 2.0T quattro when it comes out, but I can't see me buying it here in Canada unless they make the price equivalent to US pricing. The US dealerships will likely make a big deal out of it, so likely will have to wait for 1-2 years like you did.

Both of those sound like very good buys especially since (I assume) they are CPO cars.
