Little trick I've found to shift into 1st gear!

First, I bought a 2003 b6 with about 70k on it, shifting was not very good, especially into first on cold morning, and second and 3rd wered grinding, put some Redline in, grinding went away, but it's still feels veerryy tight on cold mornings. Have to do a full stop to get into 1st - anyway here is something I've discovered yesterday,
When you are trying to bring it into 1st, push it in a bit, get back and push in again - It will pop right in! even with the car still moving, I was much suprised.

Hope I'm not bringing back some old news though

Check the motor mounts and/or tranny mount. They play the biggest contributor in the car not going into gear.

I just give a little throttle to help go into first if I need it.

that would be a tranny flush,

As far as getting it into first, hint towards secound gear, dont put it in, just tap it to the "face" of the gear, then go into first, What that does is it stops a couple things in the tranny from spinning and it goes right it.

    So said an audi mechanic.

I think it stops the synchronizers from spinning... and that's what I do too!
