So i got my Koni FSD and Eibach springs today (Pics inside)

And after taking a look at them for a bit, i noticed somthing, theres 3 notches on the shock, now heres the directions picture. Normal, Sport , and Pickup truck.

and im guessing if i put the clip on the last slot, it makes the car lower? im thinking it should be set on sport? is this right? heres how it came on the shock, in the middle.

now for the people that have the FSD and Eibach kit on their car, could you please tell me if you have your clip on the center slot or lower slot, i put shocks and springs on cars before, but have never seen this kind of setup, anyways i cant wait to get them on, i will post before and after pics, thanks guys.

$965 at www.tirerack.com , and they got here in like not even 2 days, was so fast! now i got wait for a day when it doesn't rain in PA to put them on. :(

Looks like I might be getting a set of those shocks. I only have the springs and my front end sits a bit too high for my liking, but it rides really good. I just need to get my front end down a bit lower. Looks like that might be the trick.

Awesome Frank, I remember when mine arrived, I was so excited to finally rid of the H&R springs and KOni yellows. These drive so much better.

BadBoyRipper, I honestly am not sure that putting the FSDs on will lower the front more... It'll most liekly stay the same, could even go up a bit. H&R springs would lower thr front another 1/4 inch... but can't use the with FSDs, you'd need different shocks like Koni Yellow/sports or Billstein...

Using the lower grooves may put the spring perch to close to the axel!

When using the lower groove, as the suspension moves the spring perch may contact the axel. Over time, continued contact can cause the axel to fail. This has been documented by A6 drivers on AW. When I ran Konis/Eibachs on my car, I saw the contact first hand.

This may/may not be the case with your car. However, I highly recommend that you pay attention to it

Koni yellows or SA are external adjustable dampers for rebound. FSD are not adjustable externally. If you would like a "set it and forget it" setup, the FSDs would be a good choice. I have Koni SAs on my M3, and the fronts are adjustable via a knob. To adjust the rears - I have to remove them from the car, adjust then re-install.

The Koni SSK kit consists of Koni yellow SA, and matched progressive springs branded as Koni (not sure who manufacturers them).

I found it to be really easy to change out the springs. I got the compressors from Autozone, and it only took me about an hour and a half to get it all done. Not difficult at all. Just take your time and you'll get it. The front took me the majority of the time, at about 1 hour and 25 minutes. The rears take about 5 minutes. Good luck.

Yeah, but I love the ride of the Eibach's. For some reason though my front end sits up about a 1/4" higher than the rear. Everyone else on here with Eibach's have the rear that sits higher. Maybe that is the case with the 3.0L. Might have to change over to the H&R's or move up to coils.

The Koni SAs are great dampers as well - specially if you're planning on tracking your car, and would need the adjustability to firm up the rebound.

How was your experience with the Eibach Pro-System kit?

It worked well. Body roll was reduced, as with the squat and dive from acceleration and braking. It was a pretty good match of damper and spring rate, not jittery or bouncy @ all. It was quiet as well, no coil bind or weird suspension rattles. The pro-system felt a bit more firm than the FSDs. This is the drop it provided:



The FSDs feel smoother, more compliant over uneven roads. My A4 had 40 series sidewalls, my current cars with FSDs are on 35 and 30 - yet the ride quality is better. I have this test - I call it the "wife test". She feels that my M3 provides way too stiff of a ride, while the A6 and GTI are "really comfortable". The FSDs passed the test, the Koni SA failed.

I have the same set up. I left them on the setting they came with (middle). It was a PITA as Gigi said it took me all day. But well worth the time
