diagnose this noise: if i press hard on the pedal for about 1-2 seconds and let go, the gear will shift up and also make a hissing noise (a loud PSH) sort of like a blow off valve. what could this be?

    i have an automatic stock 2003 a4. 55k miles

ya i feel a bit of a power loss, no codes tho. it really sounds like a DV. when it changes gears without me letting go of the gas it doesn't make this noise, but when i let go of my pedal and it changes gears after me hittin the gas hard for a couple seconds then it makes the noise. idk if im explaining this right im a bit buzzed

hmm...could just be your normal dv noise...i'm not sure how abruptly the auto's change or how audible the dv is with them...but when i still had my stock dv if i built boost then kicked it out of gear it was decently loud...but hey...warranty car = warranty work...take it in and let them have a look

    Re: diagnose this noise!

the noise started after they put in a free new engine (old one blew up from the oil sludge problem), so maybe they put in a different DV? cus it usually never made this noise b4.. i was wondering if it could be like a boost leak or something, do they check for leaks at the dealership
