i decided to go with custom exhaust instead of just ordering one, so i went down to a shop and talked with the guy. this is the setup he thinks would be good, was wondering what you guys think... no flaming im pretty much a newb
(leaving cat in) 3" downpipe to the y, to 2.5" pipe with glasspacks on each pipe after the y, to 4" tips...
sucky? or does this seem good? he said if i dont like it he'll put mufflers or whatever i want with no labor charge so mine as well try i guess.

do u have to?? I'm only running lltek intake and mjm dv... and my custom exhaust from engine-back is being made right now... 3", no cat, and magnaflow mufflers... might add resonators after y if it rattles or too raspy.... should I not put it on untill I get my ko4?

    Re: exhaust question

I do.. but not in the near future.. cars got 120k on the clock so needs a rebuild before thinking of any real power. gotta get all the supporting mods as well. you think 3" is too big from the cat back with stock turbo?

    Re: exhaust question

Can you run a 3" with the stock cat? I thought it was 3" to 2.5" dp.

    Re: exhaust question

i think youre right, he was talking about a small piece of 2.5 to match up with the flange on the cat and then to 3" like a tiny coupler i guess he just felt like doing it entirely of 2.5" would be too small

    Re: exhaust question

If you don't mind losing your cat you can get a full 3" test pipe for pretty cheap. There's not really a point of doing 3=>2.5=>3. Plus I think 2.5" is good for up to at least 300hp of flow, so unless you plan on going bigger than a gt28 in the future you should be good with 2.5".

    Re: exhaust question

im gonna keep the cat for now.. so i should probably just go 2.5" all the way back then. do you think it will be seriously loud with glasspacks instead of mufflers with the cat still on?
