night time photoshoot KONI coilovers installed

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so last friday i drove over to felipe's (pipe7284) and we (+ his friend carlos) did a little switcharoo...my stock suspension for his KONIs.

one question. does anyone know where i can get a tool to adjust the coilovers. i think they are a little to low in the front because my wheels rub a little.

actually two questions. are the koni coilovers shock adjustable? can i make it stiffer or looser?

let me know what you guys think!

I like the look but my maturity level (old age) says it should be raised a little ......... or that might just be my kidneys talking (they're old too)

I'm not a big fan of the wheels but the lowered stance does make them look better.

yeah it needs to come up a little....he had 17s or 18s and i have 19s so it definitely rubs in the front when i turn or go over a nasty bump.

it sucks though because it looks so aggressive slammed on the ground like that!

looks sweat but a liitle to low for driving. You rub in the front when you are going a good speed and hit a dip in the road don't you? Looks nice though just raise it a liitle, I wish my rims tucked like that, mine stick out too far and they rub all the time up front.

you can do it with the wheels off
might need a hammer or something to break them loose if they've been set for a while

does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do next with the suspension? i need an alignment. but what about a camber kit, is it necessary?

Re: night time photoshoot KONI coilovers installed

I would have these suspension items on my short list if I was in your spot.

    1) DTS - Drive Trane (transmission) Stabilizer
    2) Rear sway bar (If you have AWD then get the metal end links as well)
    3) Up-graded engine and tranny mounts - I have S4 mounts and they work great but 034 has a new density line that is supposed to work and feel way better.
    4) up-graded polyurethane DTS mount from Chevy (works great)

And that my friend, will give you a very solid suspension. There are some other things you could do as well but this is where I would start. I have all these mods as well and my car handles like no other, but I do have some other mods to my suspension as well.

    Hope this helps.

wow, I really like the look even though I'm sooo not into slammed cars. I love the GTI wheels too. did you use adapters or are they custom drilled?

Huff's FTW. They'd look like sex if they were a darker color, like a medium grey-ish.

When I build my bagged car I might just have to put these on it.

    Love this pic..

yeah bro dito! i had fun and i hope i didnt get you guys sick....haha thats why i havent posted any pics i just cleaned it yesterday! ride is good, pretty bumpy but i'm taking it in to get it aligned this week and maybe have the shop raise it up at the same time since they have the stuff to do it. i'm thinking 3/4" raise. just enough so the front tires dont rub on the fenders.

Re: night time photoshoot KONI coilovers installed

Looks nice, but they are too sunken in, space them out and roll your fenders thin to fit. Stop rolling once your fenders have a few millimeter's of space between the tire and metal. You need adjustable control arms to adjust your camber (unless you feel like disconnecting your subframe and rocking your motor). Get some, correct it and make the body fit the wheels. You will definitely need to stiffen up your suspension as the Koni's are way too soft. Hard breaking, steering will give you a lot of rubbing...
