I found this on ebay, I checked out MTM's site and it doesn't a single thing about this...is this for real????

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...spagenameZWDVW

I wouldn't pay that much for it, but I wanted to know if such a goodie does exist...

    Re: MTM Supercharger for 4.2

I know about that supercharger for the RS4, I've seen the video way too many times!

But what I really wanted to know is whether the supercharger in the ebay link does exist for c5's and is really compatible

The new (Q7 & RS4) MTM superchargers are $35-39k, which makes this seem pretty cheap... ;)

What the fuck makes a single engine component worth that kind of money?

Good question. But an even better question would probably be, who on earth would buy it?

You can pick up a used RS6 2003, and chip it for about that price currently.

    Re: MTM Supercharger for 4.2

PES who have been saying they will have a supercharger for the last 3-4 years are aiming at a price of 5-7k USD from what I can gather for a G4 setup.

Then again, they haven't made it yet.

    Re: MTM Supercharger for 4.2

I really don't understand why superchargers for Audis cost so much... if you go with a non-roots type you can probably pick up the turbine for $1500 and then custom fab some piping for about $800. Toss on a piggyback and tune on the dyno for about another $1k...

In fact... if I weren't in the doghouse for mods already, i'd be calling Vortech right now! Supercharged S6 avant would be niiiiiiice.
    mods... yeah
if i'm not responding, i'm probably out training

    Re: MTM Supercharger for 4.2

I don't see how $7k is too much for a supercharger kit

    I mean, for 2.7T:
    K04's with install kit = $2500
    fueling for Stage 3 = $2500
then add in full exhaust, or atleast piggies; new clutch w/LWFW; add in IC's or a FMIC, then add in a set of exhaust manifolds

now tell me which is cheaper? plus you get to have a supercharged 4.2

now whether it's actually MTM or not is a good question, I'm sure they wouldn't want someone ripping off on their name, so has anyone e-mailed them about this yet?

    Re: MTM Supercharger for 4.2

I saw this awhile back, but to me MTM seems to make ugly ass stuff, like there hoods for the RS6? are they serious..they seem to flow for function rather than looks, although its not that hard to make it look good i.e. paint, better designers?

and having one of seven or what ever this is sounds like a bad idea, need a part yeah that'll be here in 2-3 weeks..maybe..if we can find it..just go with a PES, although I dont know if they make one for the 4.2.

The MTM supercharger is about 20k. PES don't have a supercharger for the 4.2 yet. They probably never will make one at the rate they are going at.

So realistically, a Stage 3 2.7 is a cheaper option

reading comprehension, we are talking about this particular one on ebay right now

    thanks though

can't tell for sure, because there aren't any runing around, but there are a few reasons to go the supercharger route:
    1) there are no turbo kits for the V8's, actually, there aren't really any mods for t he V8's!
    2) supercharger is on the top, easier to work on, then 2 turbo's hidden way below and behind engine department - for which you have to take transmission off to get to them
    3) a properly built Stage 3, with RETAIL prices, will run you just as much as a supercharger for the 4.2
    4) if you run Stage 3, you most likely will ALWAYS have to run 93, and they really shine on Race Gas, any idea how much gallon of Race Gas costs? thanks!

Andrey, as far as I remember, the difference between 2.7T and a 4.2 A6's was only about 2-3mpg in regular moderate driving; on my 2.7 the mpg according to the computer never went over 22mpg with me shifting 2000-2500rpm

not starting anything, just don't like some of a little ignorant responses
