What would be a good price for the following S4

Ok, I'm about to buy a S4 and just want to make sure I don't get screwed over as far as the price goes.
The car is a 2000, sport package, navigation, heated seats and all that. It's a manual and has 92k miles. What would be a good asking price for this car? It's from a private seller, he's asking $11,750 for it

That sounds like a good deal.

Any problems on it? Still has original KO3s? Is it modded?

    Seriously...

Find out what shape it is in mechanically. If it's all good and has had it's maintenance then it's a fair price.

That is too cheap, being so cheap makes me nervous. Book on that car is $14,000.

Re: What would be a good price for the following S4

According to kbb, book is around $11k in good condition, i had the option of buying a silver 02 for $13k with 79k, decided against it as it seemed silly to spend that much so close to having a baby

So not as expensive as you think, alot of owners feel their cars are worth more but in reality they're not, at the end of the day it all depends on what the buyer is prepared to pay.

Offer $10.5k then work up from there.

not to jack the thread or anything, but im lookin at a black 01.5 with 89k miles, TB done and front end stuff (sway links, joints etc job) done as well, 6speed, says good condition. Asking 14.5.... too much? i mean almost 90k miles =\

Re: What would be a good price for the following S4

I bought mine in February for $9,800

    2000 S4 6pd 101K BLK w/Silver interior
2nd owner(seller) had it for 7 months and the owner before that was an older gentlemen.
New tires, front control arms and stuff, redone seals and fluids in the rear diff.
The bad: dent on the frnt Q panel, rear trunk and on the hood and roof some little dings as if little hard nuts fell from a high tree. Also the front number on the bottom center has a crack in the bumper. The seller thought that the TB and WP were done, but not sure. My mech looked at it and said it doesn't look like it so I recommend you do it in case he was lying or just didn't know.

Re: What would be a good price for the following S4

Don't trust the Kelley Blue Book it isn't correct. If you want to determine the "market value" of the car you have to do the research. In a market you have buyers and sellers which have bid and ask prices, respectively. When the bid and ask prices overlap, you have a transaction. Past transactional values are probably the best figures for determining the fair market value of the asset. You can see the ask prices by looking at Autotrader, Craigslist, etc., the bid prices on ebay, and the transactional prices on Ebay's completed listings or by talking to people who have sold their cars. At the end of the day it is really about what you think the car is worth and if the seller will make a deal at that price.

Did he do the clutch, timing belt or water pump? If so, then thats not a bad price. I agree on the KBB though. It's all about what the market determines and right now its soft as shit.
