    First time i had this

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
driving to work today my light came on the "computer screen" cluster. It showed an oil can and said low under it. I've never had this come on and i'm only 40 miles over my scheduled service where as i have drove 200 over before i could take it in. Should this be a huge concern or can it wait till tomm. morning if i drive say another 100 miles. thanks AZ

pop the hood and check the oil level, if its really low add some oil until you can get it in for the change.

Re: First time i had this

    PLEASE do this:

    1. With a cold/colder engine, pop the hood and check the level on the dipstick.
    2. It should be low, so add a quart or so. 5w40 full synthetic is the correct oil, right?
    Ignorance is bliss.

SAME thing happened to me yesterday; weird. I only have 9700 miles though. I poured a 1/2 quart of Mobile 1 10w30 Full Synthetic and waited about 10 minutes before driving. All good now.

Yes you will be fine, only thing to look for is if you notice it driving differently.

Re: First time i had this

What?!?? This happened to me yesterday too!!!

Weird, stopped by Hugo's shop at McKenna and scored me a quart of engine oil.

Technically, you're fine just as long as you're topped off as soon as you possibly can. I was doing 90mph on the 605 when my low level alarm went off, and I just kept going until my stop for a top off.

Rule of thumb is 2 minutes, but wait 10 minutes like the post above before to get an accurate dipstick reading, and 10 after for another accurate dipstick reading. Then off you go..
