first - if you don't agree with stretching then please don't crap all over my thread. If you don't like the look, please - do the same as the people who think it's a bad idea and kindly leave or watch quietly.

second - I think I've found the wheels I'm going to go with (assuming i get a good price back.. I've been researching some prices, but this company goes by price quote only, so we'll see what they say)
    size info: 17x8 et30 front, 17x9 et27 rear...
that should be enough to clear my brakes, poke ever so slightly, offer good interior clearance, and keep ABOUT the same lip, with maybe a little bit of a staggered look (if i did my numbers right... and i hope i have, I've been at this for over 2.5 hours now, researching wheels, sizes, tires, etc) i based those sizes and offsets off of darrick's HRE's (hey buddy - hope you got the PM, if you're reading this please offer some input.. it'd be greatly appreciated) since i'm going for the same general stance, just on a different wheel/tire. (we'll see how it goes)

with that being said -- I know some tires stretch better than others.. and I was wondering which of these you guys think would take to stretching better. also, do these sizes look good for a considerable ammount of stretch (but not TOO much)? how much sidewall height/rolling diameter do you think I'm looking at losing with these numbers?

i can adjust accordingly, its just hard to find "common" tire sizes that match stock rolling diameter and each other, but still fit the "stretch" range of sizes... so here's what i've come up with. remember - 8 inch rim in the front, 9 in the back

tire sizes: 205/50/17 front 235/45/17 rear

tire choices that I've come up with are:
-Falken FK-452's (i dont know if these stretch as well as their discontinued counterparts - the 451's, that's why i'm asking)
-and my oh-so-favorite, the general exclaim UHP.

before anyone brings any of it up - no, i dont care about road noise. no, this wheel/tire setup isn't for aggressive driving (outside of some straight-line acceleration). it's for some looks, to try something different, to get back to our roots... we're not so far removed from all the dubbers out there, and (IMO) it's high time that we stop acting like 6 series and merc owners.. (no offense to anyone who has one of those cars lol )

i think quite a few people may know the direction I'm taking this (sean espeically hahaha). we'll see how it goes (again -- assuming i get a good price back from this company.)

thanks again everyone, hopefully someone out there is from the dub or e30 scene and can help out some. now its time for some sleep... exams tomorrow... wooooo

The falken's are the tire of choice on the dub scene as they take to stretching quite well but the sizes you mention will not really look that stretched. The 205 might be better on the 9" rim but a 235 will look fairly 'normal' as will the 205 on the 8" wheel. You might want to up the size of wheel (8.5 and 10" > F/R) or go down in tire width and profile. Maybe a 195/45/17 front and 214/45/17 rear sounds a bit more what you're looking for....but the rolling diameter might be too small....research the tire specs to see. Search Vortex too.

    Re: tire stretch info/help needed

i was thinking those same things -- but i punched some widths into google (to do conversions lol) and compared darrick's old wheel/tire specs and went with about the same ratio. and his were certainly stretched atleast a little bit (from what i remember)

    hmm... more researching it is.

    anyone else?
