i heard the h&r sport springs with the oem shocks would only last around 20k miles so i was wondering what kind of shocks are good with the h&r sports.

oem springs would or get a sline suspension. I just put in a brand new sline and it will work until I can get some coils.

The springs will be good for a long time but I believe the OEM shocks will eventually wear out depending on driving habits and it will occur sooner with the aftermarket springs.

Re: what kind of shocks would i need to get with h&r sport springs?

Most good aftermarket springs will have a lifetime warranty. My Eibachs which are more a conservative drop than H&R made my oem shocks feel crappy at 7k miles. Sure my shock life could be more, maybe even 7k more miles but the ride turns to crap. It'll bounce, wallow, and when I was behind my own car (wife driving it) it was bouncing up and down like a cheap ricer on cut springs..well not that bad but that's what it reminded me of. I chose Koni for a more compliant ride with adjustable dampening - I changed out the oems at about 7k miles. Bilstein is good too - both offer lifetime warranties.

Having that said, find a used set of coilovers and you'll spend almost the same money as a new spring/shock set-up.

Re: what kind of shocks would i need to get with h&r sport springs?

i'm thinking about getting some springs too on an oem sport suspension for my 08 a4..i have the same problem. i just want to get sport springs and put them on the oem sport suspension but apparently it doesnt work that way. are there any sport springs that go perfect with no problems at all on the sport suspension? i don't feel like spending $$$ on coilovers.

Re: what kind of shocks would i need to get with h&r sport springs?

Eibach gives you the minimal drop on sport suspension. If your car is a lease, then who cares about the shocks..since you are going to turn the car back in anyways. But if its a buy, suggest you to do the right thing by buying shocks too.

Re: what kind of shocks would i need to get with h&r sport springs?

If you already have the H & R springs, Tire Rack has the Bilstein shocks for $100 each. Bilstein is not only a huge OEM supplier but they also provide lifetime warranty to the original owner. They are also owned by ThyssenKrupp a huge German industrial conglemerate.

If you don't have the H & R springs then get Stasis. There's a special in the Group buy section.

    guys,

go with eibach pro kit. Its almost a perfect drop backed by improved handling and ride.

pro kit gives you about an inch drop on OEM sport suspension

Re: what kind of shocks would i need to get with h&r sport springs?

I've heard that our stock OEM SPORT SUSPENSION comes with Bilstein shocks... if so, shouldn't that be enough to handle conservative springs (H&R Sport and Eibachs)?

Would upgrading to the Bilstein Sport Shocks from TireRack have any effect?

I have the Eibach and Bilstein Sport combo. The ride is better than ever. You may use Eibach or H&R Sport with OEM sports since the drop is minimal, but eventually you'll still have to replace your shocks.

Re: what kind of shocks would i need to get with h&r sport springs?

I think the stock shocks are either Sachs or Boge brands. Even if our cars came with Bilstein shocks, they'd be comparable to HD's and they eventually would need to be replaced with a sport shock when used with lowering springs.

Can't go wrong with either. I chose Eibach because it was more conservative of a drop (even though mine dropped almost 1.75" vs the claimed 1.2-1.4 drop). Audi used to sell springs to go on your non-sport shocks about 4 years ago and they were Eibach. That is what stuck out in my mind most. Otherwise you really can't go wrong. Try searching in the B6 forums and get opinions and pics there (that's what I did).
