Just curious but why is it that Tein Coilivers are the only company that i can find that has a higher spring rate for the front then for the rear on our S4s?

Bilstein and others are the same. Tein isn't the only one.

    Re: tein coilovers vs others

Teins ride pretty soft...i had them on my car for about 2 1/2 years. They worked out ok for me since i never really drove my car very hard.

They won't do anything for you when pushing hard in corners or tracking. However if you're looking for a affordable coilover that rides relatively comfortable than they are an ok choice.

Note: one winters use and the front collars seized up. I had to get them replaced.

I just ordered PSS9's. Better handling, better quality....more money.

I have PSS9's on and I love them, a little ruff when going slow on bumpy roads.. they are awesome going fast.. I am getting corner balanced monday so i hope it makes the ride better... (read somewhere here that it helps)

the last thing that my PSS9's were were rough. My setup rode so smooth over everything. the only problem with the PSS9's is that they have an extra caddie bounce on the highways.

I never really like Tein either. My friend had a set on his car and it was like he was hittin' switches all the time.

How about the stasis streetsports? anyone had experience with them?

there is a group buy going on so I am thinking about getting them. I dont want the ride to be too rough since roads here in NYC are horrible.

The Stasis Street Sports are for A4's not S4's. Made by Koni and known to provide a very smooth ride. I had them on my A4 Avant and aside from a smoother ride, there was no improvement in handling over the OEM sport suspension and the ass sagged (known issue with the Konis with heavy ass Avants). I swapped them out for a set of GT Vogtlands (Startup Racing version) and there was a definite improvement in performance. The ride was firmer yet quite civil. I have since installed the GT Vogts in my S4 and the improvement in ride is VERY noticeable. The GT Vogts (firmer than regular vogts) are able to absorb bumps far better than the OEM suspension yet still provide a firm feel. For a daily driver over rough roads, these coils are great. Going to the track May 15th so I'll see how they fare soon ...
