Just got my 25,000 mile service done and they relfashed my ECM. Did APR address this already?

We have been updating our VW and Audi software for the past couple of months. There are always new factory updates so we keep a pretty close eye out for these changes. However, the best way to confirm that the software is available for your new ECU is to let your nearest APR dealer interrogate the ECU to determine if we have matching code on our server. Or, if you already know your new ECU box code and revision (which can be determined easily using Vag-Com), you can tell me and I can confirm for you tomorrow.

I am in the same boat. I am APR-chipped. Had to let them update my ECM. The previous service advisor at my local dealership helped me avoid the flash at the 25K service. Now on my 32K service - couldnt avoid it anymore.
I know I will hate my car when I pick it up tomorrow.

I don't follow what you're saying. What do you mean new ECU box? I thought when Audi comes up with a reflash for whatever they are addressing, APR just follows up with new APR software that incorporates the new changes Audi made, or am I wrong?

Yeah, except what sucks about keeping "up to date" with APR dealers is the most of them charge just to hook things up and check, and then charge to REINSTALL software you already bought, but now you need a revised version cause Audi changed something.

I already went through this once. It was more of a hassle with time and effort than with the $40 charge from the APR dealer. I had to drive 1 hour each way, and wait nearly an hour to have the dealer spend the 5 minutes to update the software. It is a hassle.
The issue is that this isn't just a 1 time thing either.
Audi now has another "revision", so once I go back in to the dealer for an oil change or any service, they will reflash the ECU and then I'll have to spend more time and money to get the APR fix, if it's even out.
I remember a few months back that Audi had a reflash, and APR didn't have their fix. So, there were a number of APR customers driving with OEM software.

I understand that APR can't do anything about a persons time, or mileage, and effort. That's not APR's fault. But, APR really does need to work with their "dealers" on NOT charging to update software. Sorry, that's the way I feel. It's not as if the APR software is inexpensive. It's actually quite pricey as it's for an Audi. I see how much more software is for "premium" brands as it's quite a bit lower for Honda's and such.
So, we pay a good price and I don't feel we should have to pay for a SIMPLE plug in service that takes 5 minutes.
APR needs to work that out with it's dealers.

Or, I'd like to see APR offer customer available downloads so we can do it ourselves.
If we already have a purchased copy then we should be able to go online and download the latest version free of charge, using our purchase code, or serial number, or customer number, or whatever.
That way a customer can stay up to date and have their car running on performance software very soon after the dealer service.
I'd rather buy a VAG cable that I can use for other things too, instead of giving the APR dealer $40 everytime Audi updates their software.
With self download software I can do it when I want to and don't have to spend time and money going to an APR dealer.

I had to vent, cause there can be a better way to do this.
There is very good software to protect APR from people stealing their software even with download updates. REVO has a great idea with their flash loader that contains the upgrade software and I haven't heard of people stealing that.

would love to do it on my own (better convenience and less chance of someone mistreating my car)
for this, I wouldn't mind buying a full VAG cable.

^x2. If software companies can figure out ways to encript, I'd like to see APR & others do it too. Even if you have to get the initial flash from the dealer.

You are actually following quite well. If Audi has a new revision of software, we have to update our software to be compatible with the latest revision. Since we are on the internet, we are speaking in generalities and I don't know what revision of software is on your paticular vehicle. That's what my comment was about concerning "ECU Box CODE". If I knew your specific ECU Box Code (aka Part Number and Revision) AFTER the Audi reflash, I would be able to tell you if our compatible software was available in the next 20 seconds. However, since I don't have this data, the best I can do to GUARANTEE that the new APR file is available is to have you visit your APR dealer for a reflash.

I don't want to say we have something that we don't have so without the hard data, I can only speak in generalities. Sorry if this was confusing and I am 99% sure we have all the latest Audi revisions covered but since these revisions change often, I need data to answer with a full 100% certainty. To be 100%, you can either find your ECU Box Code using Vag-Com or visit your local Audi dealer for a reflash. I hope that I have cleared up any confusion.

Can the dealer just update my ECU if I ask them to? I'm planning to get APR on friday so I would get the Moving Sale deal but I have to bring my car to the dealership to get something fixed. Don't want to get Apr reflashed if I just got it flashed.. confusing? yes a bit.

Re: been out of the loop for a bit. Does APR have an update for new Audi flash?

Mike - I'll try to connect to the ECU and get the info you need. There is now one APR dealer in town and I'll check with them if they can do a quick check w/o fee.
The original dealer that flashed my car is 1 hour and 30 minutes away and I dont want to drive 3 hours (back and forth) and come back w/o having the ECU flashed.

This new Audi campaign rewrites the engine management for mid-range RPMs.
The car is not quite as slow as I would have expected but it doesn't have the thrust of the APR chip.

I have the same problem. I have to have a service done on sat which I know they will reflash me, APR sale ends friday and the APR dealer is a good 1.5 hour drive. So I end up missing the sale, or having to spend 3 days getting flashed and reflashed.
