    Re: boost leak test help

Spray some soapy water in the area you hear the hissing coming from. That should reveal where the leak is.

    Re: boost leak test help

Its not like filling up a balloon. You are pushing pressurized air through the system. It will make noise, but you shouldn't feel any air coming out anywhere if you stick your hand behind the intake.

fill a spray bottle with soapy water and spray the area you hear the noise coming from. You will see bubbles start to form where the leak is. My guess is the brake booster line t-fitting.

    Re: boost leak test help

because we put a valve stem to the tester and soon as i fill it it will be empty within 15 seconds and the boost gauge wont go past 10 pounds on the gauge while filling it

You have to hook it up to a constant 15-20 psi supply (air tank/compressor with a regulator set to 15-20 psi). So yes, there will be constant pressure flowing through the system as long as the compressor has enough pressure in the reservoir.

Its not a balloon. You are pushing air through the system, not filling it with air and looking for leaks. You need to put 15-20 psi into it, because that will make the leak obvious and will replicate actual possible operating pressures.

    Re: boost leak test help

I preformed this test last night and all I could hear is the air pressure going into the y-pipe or leaking behind it, very loudly! Checked all hoses and couldn't find anything...also did the soapy water. What could be leaking so bad underneath the y-pipe? Also, if I have a mbc hooked up, should I do the leak test with just the n-75 valve in place instead?
