s4 intercooler shrouds question

i recently bought rs4 smic's with the apr hoses and i need to know if i need the shrouds in or not becuase it looks as if the shrouds are blocking the whole are of the stock ic's so please someboday tell me if they are needed and how much modification do i need to do for the rs4's to fit...ty in advance

Just cut the outside edge of the shroud off. It wont seal to the core obviously, but it works fine. RS4 shrouds will definitely be better, but they are pricey ($130+).

Read APR's intercooler install insructions (they are on their website) if you are still confused on where and how to cut the stock shrouds up.

don't forget to get the RS4 SMIC mounting brackets, otherwise the RS4 intercooler's will just be hanging from the APR hoses you got, they do not mount up to the stock S4 intercooler spots. Also you'll need to cut away a little piece of the underbelly plastic shield because the RS4 SMIC's hang a little lower
