    Airbag Light hate

The fucking Airbag light is back on, and what do you know its the same fucking connector under the passenger seat. Used electrical parts cleaner on all the connectors, clear the code and it still comes back. Is there any solution to making the light not come on? I was reading in some other thread that you can use a resistor of some sort but I am not entirely sure what that is all about. Anyone else get around this issue? I think the plug is completely fucked as the light wont go away no matter what I do with the wiring.

    Re: Airbag Light hate

Well as the air bags get older they will set off the air bag light which is a way of it telling you that it needs to be changed.

If you don't mind the air bag not to work you can just unplug it and put a 5 ohm resistor in the plug that is coming from the floor.

Spray contact cleaner and the put a zip tie around the connector so that it can't loosen.

Tried that haha, its not that it comes loose, its just that it doesn't read that its connected.

And Mike, the code I get is "Resistance to high Pass side igniter". Do you have a write up on how to hook up the resistor? And to which connector?

You need a new airbag. Stop being a cheap ass and go buy one for the driverside (side)and passengerside (side) and you'll be good for nexty 8-10 years.

if you want to hook up a resistor, all you do is wire it and plug each end into one of the terminals on the connector going to the floor.

Just get one 5 ohm or two 10 ohm 1 watt resistors. If you use 2 just put them together and twists the ends, then just bend each end so the resistor looks like a U. Place each end into the plug contacts and tape it in place.

I would have traded your problem with mine anyday, I had the module that's buried in the dash go bad and it was a complete PITA to get to and fix. I'm sure replacing the plug under your seat is much easier...

I actually bought that plug too, took forever to track it down, fixed the problem the first time. Was good for 6 months.

Got any pics Mike? I want to get an idea of how this looks like.

    Ever fix this man?

the silver b5 is pending sale due to this problem

So just pick up 1 5ohm 1 watt resistor into the bottom portion of the connector?

    Re: Airbag Light hate

dont mean to bring back an old thread but my question is relevant.

i have an airbag light on, went to go clean the connectors under the seat and all i have running to the floor is that green plug, no others.

any ideas? think someone may have cut it? i cant find any signs suggesting that tho

Funnily enough that thread was from 17 days before that particular car was totaled. The 98 connectors are known to go bad. Mine are simply disconnected haha.

Its the wiring on the pillar causing my issue now.

check what code it is if you have vagcom, it should be passenger side igniter code, if its that, then that means its the seat connector
