    I think I hear a dying fuel pump ?

    Hey Guys, .

Sometimes.....when I turn my car on, I can hear some kind of fluid sucking or slurping noise coming from the rear. I can only hear it for 3-5 seconds and then it goes away, someday I don't hear it at all.

The first thing I think of is the fuel pump ?

Could it be anything else ?

Its probably the smaller pump that pumps the fuel over the hump in the tank that you can hear. I think its common to be able to hear it sometimes

Is this with the car running or just with the key on? Because the pump only turns on for 3-5 seconds when you first turn the key to the on position, then the pump turns off and doesn't come back on again till the car is started. It only comes on for that short period of time so it can pressurize the fuel lines. This is way its always good to turn the key on for those few seconds before staring the engine.

I'll have to check, I've only heard the noise after I've turned the engine on.

It isn't an issue with your fuel pump, if it was then your car wouldn't run at all because the fuel pump is either going to be working or its going to be dead and there is no such thing as a "dying" fuel pump.
