    volume for phone on bluetooth

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 6 month old car with factory bluetooth. I have been using the same phone with the car. Last week the volume suddenly dropped. Even when I max out the the phone volume and the blackberry volume, I cant get it to go louder. It renders the feature useless when driving. I tried the phone with a BT headset and it works fine. I am trying to see if there is way to fix this in a menu on the radio but I dont see it. I am trying to avoid having to bring it in for service. Any advice?

try to use wheel vol control when you are on call to increase the vol.

Toro. Tried that. I think the bt in the car is malfunctioning or there is a non published trick to adjust the volume. However, I have no idea how I could have altered the settings to begin with.
    Thanks

Re: volume for phone on bluetooth

There was another string on this subject that indicated it is a head unit issue. I was just in this morning as it is covered under the warranty. They gave me a sales guy who I proceeded to put through his paces. I even let him link into the car bt system. No luck with his phone. The volume is too low.
So its a Tuesday morning appointment. Let them worry about it.

If yours is relatively new, you should bring it in to them. I doubt that you would assume a cost on this issue.

Re: volume for phone on bluetooth

looks like it happened again. So the dealer called audi. Their solution, another radio unit. They said they were having problems with the batch of Blaupunkts in inventory. I warned the dealer that they should see if the mmi unit was available as I have been without an audible BT for more than 30 days over the past two repairs. I also mentioned that a 3rd failure consitutes a lemon. As aburd as it sounds, NJ law states that if the problem causes unsafe driving conditions, then the car qualifies as a lemon. Last I checked, driving without a handsfree device is illegal. More importantly not being able to hear the call well, would prompt me to mess with my phone when I am suppossed to be hands free. Essentially, they would have to take a car back for a minor problem. Really burns me that they want me to take another radio. No one at the fufillment center is going to take the time to give me a radio that is from new inventory. They will just pick the 1st one on the shelf. Plus they keep making me bring it in, test it, get a loaner without Sirius. Take it back, then wait 7-10 days for new one. Drop it off, get a loaner and pick it up again. VW and Audi make cool cars. As long as you dont mind spending your weekends and early mornings at dealership service centers. Not happy. Toyota and Honda are boring but at least I have never had these kinds of failures.

Just take it back to the dealer and let them fix it. Why is it such a big deal to take it to the dealer? Your local Audi dealers must really suck if you refer to them as "stealerships". Reminds me of domestic car dealerships/stealerships. My local dealer is awesome, very knowledgeable Audi sales and service folks. Sorry you don't have the same experience.

Re: volume for phone on bluetooth

Paul miller audi has great service. Loaner cars and everything. The issue goes beyond them. They had to open a ticket with Audi corporate who said... Replace it again. The manufacturer must take different action other than to simply replace the unit repeatedly. The dealer is only doing what Audi tells them to do. So this way they dont have to take responsibility for the decision. However, I am the one driving back and forth to the dealer. I am the one who got a car with BT because I am on the road for business and use it constantly. The car is great otherwise. However, a major driver to choose black over silver was the bt option. I can't stand cleaning it so much. THe BT however, (when it works) makes up for it.

Wow, this is bad, I have had my car for 3 months and just had this exact issue happen. Guess I will have to head to the dealer, kinda sucks when the car is only 3 months old, I mean it still drives but man is it dangerous when you are trying to beat your phone to death because you can't hear the other person. Sucks.

Later, will let everyone know if I have to go multiple times.

I'm having this same problem as well. My car is 3 months old also. I'm due for the 5k check up soon.....I'll have them check it out. Hopefully they'll have a fix by now.

I have an 08 Avant, NAV-E with BT. I am taking it in Monday for a phone module R&R. It is working fine but there is a campaign notice on it and they are going to replace it. (TSB ??)

Re: volume for phone on bluetooth

    Update:

Hey guys, had my 5k service done. The BT issue is resolved....for now. It now works fine. Volume is normal and calls are loud and clear. Hopefully it won't happen again. I was unable to speak to the tech who worked on my ride but the service manager stated there was a replacement part needed for the radio. In short, they have documentation on the problem and were able to fix it.

    Hope this helps.

Re: volume for phone on bluetooth

I also got mine fixed at the dealer there is a TSB out for it and it just involved resetting/adjusting the radio firmware. Calls seem even louder than before but that may just be, because I had it stuck at half volume for 2 weeks.
