does your trunk open all the up by itself on shock or do you have to pull it open?

my friend has an 06 jetta his trunk lifts itself open when he opens it mine dont. I have to pull it open.. Are my trunk shocks bad? if yes are they covered under warrenty?

i have to open mine aswell. but once its a little open it goes by itself

Mine slightly pops up, but it won't automatically swing up like an old Cadillac does it if that's what you meant.
