Re: Locked out with no way to get in...

If you're in Washington, D.C like your profile says there is no way there was a wind gust strong enough to close your trunk. I am a meteorologist and did a little research. The strongest gust reported at the Reagan Airport was 20mph a little before 1PM. Aside from that it's been about 5-10 mph out of the SW...Not strong enough to blow a trunk closed IMO.....

Wonder what the real reason is? One time I was packing the trunk of my jetta and closed the trunk with the keys in the trunk! The 2000 jetta had a feature where the doors lock after a certain amount of time. They did and I was screwed for a while!

    What's the real reason???

I know this post is a little insensitive, but I've gotta know!

    Also......LETS GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!

    i'm not the OP

and ouch, owned by AudiWxguy... no shame in admitting you locked yourself out. It would take one helluva wind gust to shut our trunks.

The gust of wind. I found that a little hard to believe as well, however I do thing out audis also have the "lock doors" after some sort of time frame. But only if you unlock wiht the remote and never open the door.

Re: Locked out with no way to get in...

yeah, and pretty sturdy shocks as well... the reason for that is so a wind gust can't come along and slam it onto the operator while doing something in the boot amongst other obvious reasons...

Audi Porsche Of Rockville is making me a new valet key for 60 bucks and overnighting it to me. Awesome!
Audi Roadside tried sending a technician and all it ended up being was a redneck with a hook trying to unlock the car....i almost laughed in his face

Unless it happened on the 29th.....it's impossible. Here is the data from Blacksburg from the last 3 days. The 29th had some good wind. Yesterday did not....

    http://www.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KBCB.html

    I'm leaving this alone now...

Re: Locked out with no way to get in...

I had something similar happen when i was vacuuming the interior and had to call Audi Roadside assistance. The guy who showed up spend ~2hrs trying to open the doors. Finally got it by using a clothes hanger hit the unlock button the the keys sitting on the front seat.

He said it was the most difficult car to break into that he has every worked. Said he has never needed more than 5 minutes to break into a car, but then this is KS so he is probably not getting calls for many flagship models.

+1 The dude that Audi sent to jimmy open my door said my car was a royal pain in the ass. It took him like 45 minutes in the freezing cold to get it open.

Re: Locked out with no way to get in...

Something perhaps similar happened to me today. Totally weird - I opened the trunk to put my bag in. Then slammed the trunk - but the key - wouldn't work to open the door. The transmitter in the key would just not do anything...

the little red light would blink on the remote but car would NOT react at all..it opened fine with the key - by turning it.. This is extremely weird since it then worked fine - after I drove, parked and closed it with the remote..

This really bothers me because I am planning on keeping the car for some time and if it keeps having weird issues it will be just a PITA..

    Anyone with similar experience ?

I had the same problem a while back, take it to the dealer and they should replace it with a new set of keys.
