RNS-E A4 Navigation System

I'm looking into buying RNS-E unit sometime this week and i was just wondering if there is anything i should watch out for?

Are there different models and if so which are better?

Make sure you get the 4 digit pin code. All of the units are essentialy the same, however there are different software options.

You can update the unit with the most recent 2008 US software. NavPlus is a great source to find out about them.

The units ar eessentially plug and play, however you will the the correct harness for your application as well as a GPS antenna and an adapter for the AM/FM antenna.

You will need a VAG-COM to recode the instrument cluster for the Navi too.

That is cool with the red navi... I had absolutely no clue and have been on navplus for sooo long.

correct, 0200 is the latest map sw, and yes, i forgot the # to recode, but you can get directions on your red dis... though it really makes you want the color dis

Got mine from navplus.us last week ordered from haaggie he is in the Netherlands but he is a trusted RNSE seller. I had mine sent over night, I didn’t think it was possible to get here so quick but it is!!

I'm sure they will . If you have an audi buletooth kit then you will have to code it also for this, but if you have an after market bluetooth kit it im pretty sure it wont work at least mode doesn't

www.navplus.us is another forum specializing in the RNS-E

The Blue Tooth kit works with any Blue Tooth compatible phone (mine is the Verizon voyager) and it links your call throughout the car speakers. Its a hands free device.

It works GREAT in our audi's and I havn't had a problem with it yet!!!

Just so you know if you want to watch DVD's you are going to have to get an external DVD player and multimedia adapter to put in the glove box because the RNS-E doesn't play DVD movies only the NAV DVD.

I bought a Euro unit off E-bay and converted it...RNS-E on the cheap. The conversion info was on navplus for a minute, but they seem to have taken it down.

Got my RNS-E unit from fleabay. Pretty much plug and play, and I have the red screen bug - the nav info doesn't always display on my instrument cluster. This doesn't occur with the newer B6's I think. It's a nice upgrade. PM me in August, I haven't decided to keep the car or give it back and get a B7/8 A4.
