Unofficial Poll....Which navigation system do you use?

Depending on where I end up in the next few weeks, I am thinking of getting an in-dash navigation system for my A4. I am leaning towards the Pioneer AVIC-D3, it seems to have a lot of bang for the buck.

However, I am just curious what you guys/gals out there use. I would love any info/411 you are willing to give me. Again, this is just a unofficial poll to see what people use. Thanks.

honestly i would also like to see this installed in our dash but i like my steering wheel controls so my brain and road signs will have to be good enough because i think those garmin things are tacky on our oh so classy autos.

I use my RNS-E (oem navigation system), I was skeptical at first, but it's a pretty good setup... add a few things on, it's kick ass

I would wait for the Avic F series (comes out in June and replaces the D series) before purchasing the D3. A few people have installed the D3 in our cars before, just try searching for it. IMO they look really clean and as factory as you can get with an aftermarket head unit.

You may also want to check out the Kenwood DNX series and the Eclipse AVN series.

As far as steering wheel controls are concerned, most of the units out there allow you to retain those controls if you purchase one of the adapters. Most of which are made by PAC Accessories.

I use the VZ Navigator on a Voyager phone. It calls out the directions and if you open up your cigarette lighter/ash tray door you can position it there (phone open or closed). I'd like to find a way to keep the communication between the phone and the car 'open' (through BT) using the VAG software so you can hear the commands through the speakers. This happens for a few seconds after you end a call for example. I thought about a Garmin or similar but didn't like the idea of it cluttering the dash.

That Alpine unit is so cool...the Blackbird look nicely equipped.

But for me the RNS-E is great. I hate touchscreens b/c they always look dirty.

Garmin Nuvi 660 and I think it looks very classy where it is. There is a new version of the Avic D3 coming out that looks very very nice, I would at least wait to see that one. That being said I love my nuvi.

My wife's girlfriend bought one of those from costco and she hated it. Bluetooth was way too quiet and not clear. She also had issues with it not powering on so she returned it and is going with a Nuvi.

How do you like it? On paper and the price from costco it sounds like a home run but in reality it wasn't for my wife's friend.

i recommend the OEM RNS-e unit, unlocked.

the avic d3 is great as well, as long as you dont care how it looks in the center console. there is a LOT of dead space when you install any aftermarket one, including the d3.

RNS-e rocks with unlocked features no doubt, that would get my vote and it aesthetically is the most pleasing and keeps the OEM look.

yes, that was the only picture that came out decent...i rarely use the guided mode on it.

Unlock the VIM update the software and I will be picking up the AV & BT unit up for it. Will be pretty sweet after he works his magic on it.

I have the AVIC D3 in mine. I've only had it in for a couple of weeks though. I have a Garmin as well for the Titan and that GPS has taken me all over the country with no issues.

I have the avic d3. I just love how you can easily make the lighting match the factory lights so it looks stock at night. To the naked eye, it looks like it came stock. Navi-wise, it works but doesn't perform as well as other units I have seen and used. Sometimes it is off and takes a while to recalibrate. I think it is the best bang for the buck
