my original post in the s4 forum since i have a 2.7T engine. no real response yet so i figured i might as well try here. not sure if it would matter which car its on since the caliper will be the same, just the mounting hardware would be different. anyone know if the USP 18s will clear stoptech 355mm kit? this would be on an a6 2.7, but like i said not sure if the car will matter

    thanks

I'd like to know if 355 fit 17" sport rims. Anybody?

i know they dont, u need atleast an 18inch rim to clear the 355's. i just dont know if the offset will be good enough to clear the caliper. my winter wheels are 17s from a b5 s4 and i have a chance to pick up some 18inch USPs, but need to know if they will clear the brakes.

I think if the diameter clears, your pretty much good with the factory rims because they have pretty good positive offset. 32ET I believe.

    No they don't. They're either ET43 or ET45.

Isn't it not about offsets, but spoke design?

I always thought a more postive offset would give you more room.

^^^yes to both and diameter for larger rotors, hence the template you print out and cut out to lay on the back side of your wheel of question to ensure at least 2 millimeters of clearnace with the spokes IIRC..

You could always call them up too or ask one of the distributors on here in the bake forum..

    Re: stoptech 355 + USP 18's

The diameter should fit fine, and at a glance, the calipers should clear as well... (if you'd care to buy me a 355 kit, I'll gladly test-fit it for you ) but one thing you need to consider is that your C6 platform is based around a wheel with a et30 or et35? offset, the B6 is based around a et43 offset (basically, your car is wider), and running that high of an offset on your car just isn't going to look right... think ultra-tucked, like the fellas running offset wheels on mustangs...

not always. It is a combination of spoke design and offset. There are several 35mm 18x8" wheels that don't clear BBK's since they have a more backset spoke design, yet a 17" oem sport wheel with 43mm will clear a 332mm bbk.
