Any Need to Warm Up Our Car?

I realize this is a lame post but I wanted to get some feedback from you folks. Is there any need to warm up before taking off? With my '04 A4 I was told to always warm up the car by the dealer. Not sure if the same applies to the '08. I've been warming it up each time I get in it but I don't know if i'm wasting my time. Thanks in advance.

as soon as your rpm drops below 1 you can just go but watch your turbo until the right temp.

I just drive and go but don't rev the engine over 2-3k until the temp gauge is up.

Re: Any Need to Warm Up Our Car?

every car needs to be 'warmed up' in that you really need to give it a few seconds to a minute to get all the moving parts well lubed up and covered in oil before putting any stress on them. there's no real need to let the car get to full operating temp before driving but you certainly should wait to get anywhere near "spirited" with it until it is at full operating temp.

ButtSexual...read your manual. It states NOT to sit longer than 20 seconds before driving after starting up. I've never let it warm up ever. No need. Even audi tells me not to. Besides a question like this would get you a better answer in faster time by calling your service center.

I warm it up till rpm drop down to 1K. Warm up is good for the engine since it take time to pump oil to lubricate th engine.
