    Thinking of cutting resonator??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
hey guys it's been a while since I've posted. Until now I've done several several mods to my A4. The list is as follows: Vogtland CO suspension, Revo Stg.II, Carbonio Intake, PCV Check, Updated Breather, Forge Diverter valve(no spacer), testpipe and 15% tints all around. As of now I'm happy but want to keep tinkering with it. In the future I'm planning on going with the Autotech fuel pump fix, NX 75 shot, front and rear spacers(<opinions please? sizes? no rubbing) with the stock wheels, polyurethane engine and tranny mounts. So finally, my question is..... Has anyone done the resonator removal? If you've seen it or heard it or have a video, opinion and thoughts are welcomed. Please don't bash I've searched long and hard and have found nothing. Also, I don't want a new complete exhaust. I want to keep as many of the OEM qualities on the car such as a no drone quiet cabin for long distance trips and so I don't annoy the GF while shes in the car.

P.S. Will have pics up as soon as it stops raining so I can wash it.

THANKS IN ADVANCE AND SORRY ITS SO LONG.

Why mess with the unknown. If your going to do it go with one of the big name systems vs. your own frankenstein creation.

Apparently the Remus 2.5" set up is the quietest. Your better off to run a 3" inch exhaust and find a new girlfriend.

because im the idiot that stuffed an IHI VF22 turbo into a 1.8t gti for fun and because im a broke college student who is currently not working to take 17 cred this summer looking to get a fix for my addiction w/o spending 1100bucks for an exhaust purely for sound because a measly alleged 10whp concludes to power:expenditure ratio that clearly does not make sense. im loking for a different tone as opposed to the raspy tp sound that all of us w/o exhausts have.

I took it out on mine and straight piped it to my ABTs. Which reminds me I have an exhaust leak somewhere.

I have a custom 2.5" catback, no resonator, with the Remus 2.5"/4" tips. It's very quiet. Even at 4K-5500 rpm's, the sound is still very conservative.

    Re: Thinking of cutting resonator??

you do what you want....it's your car but when you do have the money get the exhaust. I think if you ask anyone on here who had exhaust they'll tell you there's nothing alleged about the hp gains(at least in my experience it's true).

messing with the unknown is what opens up ideas to getting more power out of our car and if not that to help better understand how our car was designed.

    Re: Thinking of cutting resonator??

thanks for all the inputs guys. i think i may try to cut it out first see how i like it and if its too much ill just have to get an exhaust. maybe a supersprint or miltek hell maybe even the remus. i just have to compare them all and take a ride in someones car to have a feel of the drone, pitch and overall sound. if anyone else has opinions im open for anything. thanks again
