    Not A4, RS4 vs IS-F

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Here's an interesting video/comparo between the RS4 and the new
    Lexus IS-F.
It's very very close. Plus, consider that the RS4 has been around since 2006, being that close really shines on the RS4.

Also, the video shows how more often than not, performance car drivers love the control of AWD, but like the "fun" of RWD as it can get squirrely easier.

    Enjoy:

RS4 still beats it by looks and AWD. and Audi is sex. lexus is not.

    that guy is clearly biased.

nice vid sloppypants. that lexus is damn ugly and hearing the numbers posted by edmunds i doubt it will ever top the rs4 performance. i can't believe they posted a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds for the audi. thats about where the new c class amg is and it lacks the awd. i can't wait to see the next version of this car. oh and those fake exhaust pipes on the lexus are butt ugly. i'd rather have a standard looking is 350 than awkward looking car.

bottom line is that lexus attempted to beat out the bmw m3 which it obviously didn't. and the rs4 has remained an amazing car that offers everything you'd want in a sports sedan.

The F is ugly as hell in person. I've seen a few and they look really over-done with their 'look at me" styling. I've read their performance isn't bad at all but they really don't look good to me. Just looks like bad kit on on IS.

BTW, AWD cars typically produce low ET's but equally low MPH's as they cover more ground faster by not spinning the tires any but that gives them less room for acceleration. look at any "drag" car and the AWD's will post better ET's with worse MPH's than their 2wd counterparts most of the time.

That being said, a 4.3 0-60 is nothing to sneeze at. what you might like better would be a distance measurement such as a drag race... see which has the better ET..

    Re: Not A4, RS4 vs IS-F

I drove the IS-F a couple weekends ago and this is what I thought (I wrote this to a buddy of mine who is thinking of one)...

"Well I must say that the car was the best Lexus I've ever ridden in or driven, that is a given (rhyme). It sounds amazing when you start it up, has every gadget you could ever want including a silky smooth 8-speed paddle-shift transmission. When the RPMs rise above 4,500 the engine becomes a monster, the rear tires start to chirp in almost any gear and the growl is truly intoxicating. The sad part is that below 4,500 RPM the thing is a complete DOG. Your TL and even my A4 seem quicker off the line (even though Lexus says 0-60 in 4.6 seconds). There is no doubt it is faster to 60 but it is abrupt and random and doesn't start off well. The power curves are unpredictable and nearly useless when not on the track running above that 4,500 RPM magic line.

The steering is less than direct, however much better than the GS430 Sport I most recently drove. The brakes were fantastic seeing as they are the biggest on any Lexus ever made (6-piston front, 4-rear I believe). The interior was of course fantastic but a bit too quiet for this type of car (which didn't help the driving pleasure any). The suspension was stiff but not jarring like a stock M3.

Overall I think I'd much rather have a 1-year used RS4 or M3 for the $65k price tag if I'm looking for performance. The style of the IS-F I do like for a Lexus. The new M3 looks amazing though and the next generation RS4 is going to be a killer. Hell, even the 451hp C63 AMG is more enticing at this point

For someone devoted to Lexus, or in love with Japanese cars it is definitely the way to go--just not the "robust" all-around drive I expected; especially for the price tag."
Lover of all things motorsport, powersport, sport.

    Re: Not A4, RS4 vs IS-F

im not sure if i might just be biased against Toyota but they are just such cheap pieces of SH**

I previously owned a toyota and it was the worst car ive ever had. Yeah no serious engine problems or anything like that but the design issues were such a problem!

In a 2007, the roof leaked, the clutch failed after about 15k miles (ive had previous cars with over 100k on the original clutch), bad fuel economy, road noise, excessive engine noise, the rpms did not drop below 1500 when the clutch was in at speed, SERIOUS tire alignment and wear issues, couldnt turn off stability control, door locks broke at 3000k
Toyota reliability is a joke. my dad had a 2000 bmw 328i with less problems at 134k

    did i mention FAKE EXHAUST??!?!

Lol.. yea, you're totally biased against Toyota. What kind of car did you have? Maybe your dad just takes better care of his cars? I'm Audi > Toyota as far as my personal preference, but i can't deny the glaring truth that Toyota has dominated the market in reliability for decades. RS4 FTW and A4 2.0T FWD > IS 250 (camry for chicks). I'm just saying, we don't want to play the reliability game cause Audi, in the past, had earned a bad rep in U.S. markets for electronics failures and engine management fault codes, which I honestly think may be a bit overstated, but nonetheless... a rep. We should be playing up our pure sex and money factors, super handling, beastly performance from a platform released over 2 years ago, which even the M3 is just catching up to and the fact that the RS4 engine is the one sitting in the Lambo Gallardo (correct me if I'm wrong on that).

Didn't mean to jump on your comment btw... I'm just fucken awake at 3 am and everything rubs me the wrong way right now.
