    maybe picking up a 2000 2.7t... questions

    Hey guys ,

Well , i had a 2001 2.7t A6 before that was amazing , loved everything about it even with it being a auto. I am hunting for a new car again and came across a 2000 2.7t manual that needs work. So i have a few questions on what i am getting into .

Let me start by saying i am pretty good with turning a wrench and have a good set of tools to go with it. Now on to what is wrong with the car .

The car is a 2000 with about 165k on it . Timing belt snapped ....

so correct me if i am wrong , but i heard i have to pull the motor to pull the heads. I am figuring i can pull the motor put it on the stand and pull the heads. Then replace the valves and seals, maybe get a valve job or just lap the new valves in good. Then while the motor is out and heads are off , hone and re ring it , new pumps and bearings . put it back together and be done.

I know that sounds easy the way i wrote it and didnt put the price of valves and other parts , but i also own a parts store , so parts will be at cost( they are still pricey ) . i would like to look for some newer turbos to put on it while i am there , but just want to hear your guys thoughts and what else i will be looking at with this car.

the help would be great . oh and i maybe getting the car for 1k , so that is good , just want to hear the pointers in here. thanks guys .

if i were you i'd pull the motor. there's barely any room in there to get the back bolts out for the heads, and it's just a general pain in the ass
