    Quick Brake Question

I know this has been covered somewhere before but I'm not that computer savy and need an answer quick. What is a fair price to pay for a set of B5 S4 calipers and carriers? I have new oem rotors and need the calipers and carriers for an upgrade on my B6 A4 Avant. What else would I need besides pads and fluid? Thanks for your positive responses!

    Re: Quick Brake Question

Not sure what the going rate for those parts are but you might want to get new lines as well.

    Re: Quick Brake Question

Well I have a set of new rotors for a B5 S4 and found a used set of B5 S4 calpers and carriers for $290 (plus shipping) so I was just wondering if that was a fair price. I'd like to go to the B7 S4 set up but need brakes soon and already have the B5 S4 rotors. Where is a good place to get the lines?

    Re: Quick Brake Question

sorry, i am not sure the going rate either -- i thought under $1k for used, but dont quote me on that..

something to keep in mind is that the B5 S4 brakes are quite heavy and have fitment issues with many wheels..

B7 A4 (or better yet B6/7 S4) brakes are a much better option.. but it will cost you a little more..

but either with will be a great improvement over the worthless stock 1.8T B6 A4 brakes.. i upgraded to 3.0L brakes - it was minimal improvement, but minimal cost..

    good luck..

it sucks that the search does not work with 2-letter words.. ie. B5 B6 B7 A4 A6 S4 etc..

    Re: Quick Brake Question

Thanks for all the replies. I just ordered the used b5 s4 calipers and carriers for $305 shipped. I'll mate those to the new oem b5 s4 rotors I have and order new s/s lines. I need brakes soon and don't want to simply do stock right now. It's pretty hard to get the Avant slowed down from speed! So where's a good place to order the lines?
