First Upgrades to '03 225 Coupe

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So, after a bit of deliberation, I decided to go with the Revo Techniks Stage 1 software.

Now, I'm moving on the following:

    -Bailey Diverter Valve
    -Samco Inlet Pipe
    -AWE Boost Gauge kit

There seemed to be a lot of information about the Forge blow-off valves, for and against, pros and cons, so to avoid any hassles, I went with the Bailey diverter valve even though it was more expensive.

Does this sound like a reasonable plan or can anybody chime in with suggestions for revision?

    Thanks!

Re: First Upgrades to '03 225 Coupe

If I could start all over again I would go in this order

    1: Bently
    2: Vad or Vag
    3: Boost gauge
    4: DV
    5: Boost Hoses and TIP
    6: Intake
    7: Chip
    8: DP
    9: Cat back
    10: Coilovers
    11: Rotors-pads
    12: Spacers
    13: Rims
14: and all the rest of the stuff last

and do it right the first time or you will be kicking your self in the head like I did. I ended up buying diffrent rim's when I could of did it right the first time and used that money for a coil set up.

im running REVO with an AWE gauge and a dahlback DV.

LOVE it. never a problem, no limp mode, no CELs, just pure power and reliability.

throw an intake on there and listen to her BREATHE!!! =)

Yeah, I've taken a look at the EVOMS intake, but to be frank, from what I've heard so far, I'm not impressed. That's a whole lotta noise for a negligible HP gain.

Anybody have one that's happy with it?

Maybe I need to hear a better sample...

Well, I decided against everything but the boost gauge. I'm utterly unconvinced by the Forge / Bailey camp that the 710N is somehow inferior.

Unless or until I hear / see a loss of boost, I'm gonna stick with OEM turbo plumbing. I'm reminded of the popularity of Monster cables in the audio/video world. To me, at least in some way, these aftermarket BPVs and various hoses are their turbo car equivalents.

Re: First Upgrades to '03 225 Coupe

^ remember, dual piston is more reliable than diaphram, but diaphram based DV's have a tad bit quicker response.

if u dont want to spend all that for a new DV, look into the new 710P's. newer improved ver. of the 710N used on the new RS4's.

FYI the stock 225 turbo inlet pipe is prone to collapse under higher boost. ah god just read cincy's TT faq at audiforums.com

Just because some dude writes an FAQ saying you should buy a bunch of expensive stuff doesn't mean you should run out and do it.

He says "the stockers will collapse under increased boost" but where are all the stories of Stage 1 cars collapsing under increased boost?

I'm not denying they exist; rather I'm literally asking for links to such stories.

I can see where you're coming from but in this instance its one of those "better safe then sorry" applications. Sure it might not happen, but knowing the facts that the stockers DO collapse easily under increased boost, why wouldn't you seek out an alternative? In the end its only better for your car. I mean hell, you don't NEED to do many things consistent with a Stg1, but are those things recommended? You bet they are. You gotta pay to play, and there is nothing wrong with spoiling your baby!

Guys at Streetwerks told me I didn't need a DV upgrade because the TT225s stock DV are built stronger and more withstanding.

710N's I believe? The 225's came with stronger DV's and people from B6ers to 180 TTers use them. As well as injectors from the 225.

Re: First Upgrades to '03 225 Coupe

^ yes. APR designed their R1 DV from the 710N. 180's and such use the inferior 710C. which is by far more prone to failing when running increased boost. 710N is stronger indeed.

and to Mirezzi, no, no one told you to go out and do the shit cincy says. the faq is a mere guideline to inform those new to the TT/1.8T platform. it's your choice really, but if something does happen, dont say we didn't tell ya so.

im running REVO with a dahlback n75k valve, so my boost is up to around a 20 spike and a 17-19 hold. i have never had any collapse, or any problems whatsoever.

i will eventually replace ALL my hoses under the hood with the samco stuff, and will most likely just do it all in one shot. but right now all the stock hoses are holding and good-to-go, so thats not something im going to get to for a while at least....i cant say about anyone else, because they may have different setups that may cause collapse, but my setup is safe and sound.

I have the APR tip and boost hoses. I can say that you can tell a difference of smoother air flow. It was my first upgrade. It opened it up. I cant say that your stock hoses will collapes but after seeing a Video of the stock hoses doing just that it made me buy them.
