    Re: rockin' the roof rack

The rack works great... the Goodwood with the Sox plates is mine. The bike attachment works awesome too... I bought mine from the dealer, easy to read instructions and all the parts, a little pricey but I paid alot of money for the car, the board, and the bike. Why skimp on quality when it comes to the racks was my thought.

    Re: rockin' the roof rack

The only reason I havent gotten a roof rack yet for my board and bike is the fact that you are required to use the towers that attach to the door frame, instead of a factory bar or rail. What brands is everyone using and is there one that is preferred over another as far as stability, Yakima, Thule, OEM?

Are the aero bars quiet? How does the ferring work, does it keep quiet? Mines loud as hell, and here's the only pic where you can somewhat see my rack:

    Re: rockin' the roof rack

the aero bars are nice and quite... the only noise i do get sometimes, kinda of randomly, is sometimes the fairing itself vibrates against the roof when its reallly cold outside. I cant remember if the noise was reduced adding the fairing because i drove all of last winter with out one, and then added it on this winter (it was only ~$80 so i just bought it because i like how it looks anyway) so from memory i cant really compare the noise difference...

btw... anyone else notice how SHITTY gas consumption gets after adding on the roof rack

had to edit that thumbsdown in the beginning of my comment haha.. no idea how i put that there

The fairing is a must have. It reduces the noise by alot.

Udderpower, love the Avant with the DH Bike! Plan on getting myself a Thule Sidearm to carry my Downhill bikes this upcoming season. Will be putting my base bars back on along with a Thule snowboard rack as well. Here's 2 pictures of my OEM Base Rack with Thule Fork Mount (don't ride BMX, only on there cause it matches)

Anyone thought of painting the Base rack Black... I think that'd match the trim really nice.

FYI, racks that grab frames suck. I work at a bike shop and really recommend trays that grab the front wheel instead.

Right now currently have a Rocky Mountain RMX Team. Within the next few weeks should be riding for GT Bicycles. Get to ride the retardely light GT Fury.

    It depends on the bike.

For XC usage with a 9mm quick release... I prefer fork mount. (even with a Lefty)

For freeride/downhill usage with a 20mm thru-axle (or any thru-axle for that matter) I prefer an upright carrier that locks on the front wheel. Even more of a preference for this type of bike is a hitch-mount system using the upright carrier I just described.
