    Re: Neuspeed exhaust?

I think the downpipe is 60mm and the rest is 70mm. I've had it on my car for about 70,000 miles. It drones a bit in an avant but overall has a nice sound to it. A little loud for my tastes but I tend to be more conservative than the rest of the forum in that regard. If you don't already have one, this would be a great time to install a high flow cat like those available from tantrumwerks.

Finally, an all-stainless catalyst-back exhaust system that rivals the best that Europe has to offer! Neuspeed's latest generation of exhausts use aerospace quality T304 stainless metric-sized tubing for maximum flow. Low restriction mufflers and resonators are carefully designed to reduce weight and meet State noise restriction standards. Mandrel bends, TIG welds, and precise fit flanges and mounting hangers are standard on every Neuspeed system.

    Notes
60 to 70mm tubing. Includes turbo downpipe. Dual straight polished tips. Fits 5spd only.

    Re: Neuspeed exhaust?

its 2.4 into 2.8...kind of weird, and why i didnt think i would go with it. ideally dont k03 and k04 guys want a 3" TP into a 2.5" DP and cat back?

so i guess this is 2.4" DP and 2.8" cat back?

wouldnt mesh well with a 3" TP, lol.

    Re: Neuspeed exhaust?

i think there is a 2.5" one floating around...but even then its still restricted at the DP, even if only by .1"

that is of course unless its a 2.8" DP with a 2.4" from there back...in which case youre good to go either way.

    anybody?

I run a Neuspeed catback. I love the fact that it doesn't use those silly slip pipe fittings like the Borla unit. I love the sound, quiet when you are just running around town but has some balls when you get on it. Very nice unit and the welds are great too. I would buy from them again.

    Re: Neuspeed exhaust?

I bought my car with a K04, Neuspeed cat back, and a gutted stock cat. I replaced the cat with a Labree test pipe for a track day and ended up running it over that winter. It spooled a little quicker and made more turbo noise but the drone got really bad and the overall sound level was too much for quiet neighborhoods. I switched to a Labree high flow cat and the sound became much more sophisticated and mature while the performance was unchanged. Just go with the high flow cat. In this day and age test pipes are for selfish losers. Performance really is the same with a K04.

The only problem I've had is that the flex section's braid is falling apart but there still are no exhaust leaks. It has been through several nasty winters and aftermarket exhausts just don't last that long around here so it isn't that big of a deal.

There are no realistic performance benefits over a good cat but we all share in the negatives. Selfish in that they are usually accompanied with a "screw the planet, children, rest of you, etc." mentality. Loser in that there is no reason to have one other than a false perception and that they violate federal laws designed to help us all breathe better. Folks that have them have to deal with little fixes for CELs when they really should have just done the right thing from the start.

the TP costs 1/4 of what the cat costs.

not everyone here is from the US, so federal laws do not apply.

i am earth friendly, but im not strapping myself to any trees.

my CEL fix took no more time than install without one would have taken.

I never would have thought these kind of comments would come from you, youre usually pretty open minded and diplomatic.

    Re: Neuspeed exhaust?

I am open minded but pointless is pointless and destructive is destructive. I bike commuted for a year and some cars' exhaust made me nauseas. Not much more I can say on the subject. Do whatever you think is right. I'm amazed that Canada doesn't have a law requiring catalytic converters on street driven vehicles.

I've been happy with the Labree from Tantrumwerks. They are now under a different name but made by the same production group. It seems to be one of the lowest priced and has held up fine for years so it seems to represent a great value.

I think if HFC's were $125 shipped everyone would use those instead. $$ is most definitely the driving factor in that decision.

On the Neuspeed question... Its a pretty quality product. For the price it can't be beat. If you were buying new I would say get something that is a true 2.5". Hell I would buy it just to sell for $400.
