good place for rotor replacement in San mateo or Walnut creek area?

Anyone know of a good cheap place for rotor replacement?

Just spent 1.5days trying to put my rotors from adamssp.

Sucks not having the right tools and always have to put shit back together so I can drive to pick up some tools i missed. Its a pain without the right DIY for your specific car. All the DIY's online dont have B7 S4s.

I decided to pay someone to do it and watch him like a hawk to learn.

What are you having troubles with? Can you not get the caliper and pads back on the new rotor?

I was able to get part of the caliper off and remove one side of the pad facing the road. There is a hex nut that holds the caliper on the mount and allow the caliper to slide which I cannot find the right hex tool. I got 6mm, 8mm, 10mm. I was poking around after taking half the caliper off, and saw 2 huge screws that holds the caliper mount to the rotors.

To take those out I will need to jack up the whole car to get enough leverage.

The allen bolts are 7mm. The carrier bolts are 21mm. Once you get the caliper off, tap the wrench with a hammer or mallet on the 21mm caliper carrier bolts to break it loose. I just upgrade my B7A4 brakes to B7S4 brakes on jack stands and no air tools. It can be done without a lift.

I am concerned on the torque spec on those carrier bolts. For the 4 8mm allen bolt that holds the 2 halves of the caliper together, I just tighten as much as I could....possibly up to 95lb.

There are 2 of those 21mm carrier bolts right? I wanna see if I am looking at the right bolts.

Just gave freddie at East County European AutoWorks. He gave me a very good price. Better have a professional do it and learn instead of me spending another weekend poking around.

There are only (2) 7mm allen bolts holding the caliper to the carrier and (2) 21mm carrier bolts per side.

Maybe you should take it to a shop.

The link above only shows how to replace the pads but explains how to get the caliper off. Once the caliper is off, the 2 carrier bolts are easily accessible with wrench but they're on there really tight. After the carrier is off, remove the brake rotor screw which is securing the rotor on the hub/spindle. After the screw is removed the rotor should come right off. If not, a little tap with a mallet or with a 2x4 and hammer should work. If the rotor is seized by rust, use some PB Blaster. Once you get one side done the other side should be cake.

Freddie at East County European autoworks just did my 1.5 hrs ago. He finished in like an hr for all 4 corners at a very reasonable price. As i was watching him, I am glad I took it to him. The front is quick but the back is a real pain if you dont not have the car fully lifted at shoulder level for leverage. The rear carrier mount bolt is a hex and its buried in the control arm area.

All the carrier mount bolts has specific torque and you need leverage. Brakes are one of the most important things when you drive so if you are not sure, take it to a pro, learn and then do it later urself.

I got the rotors from adamspp. Search for him here. Slotted and drilled. So far so good, the noise Freddie heard before are gone. They look great, stopping power is about the same as the old OEMs but I havent pushed it yet.
