    Coil Packs?

Just replaced plugs and now have a CEL with rough idle and what feels like missing. I am almost sure it's the coil packs (maybe I damaged them when I pulled the plugs) but I don't want to spend the money for new ones and risk it not being that. I need some opinions or experiences.

If you're able to, (or if you even have the software), do a scan.

What kind of plugs did you use?

    Re: Coil Packs?

i just checked my coils on my car today..

start ur car, and starting from ur 1st coilpack, remove it, and notice how the engine sounds, if the sound drops or it starts shaking, it means that coil is good, so just pop it back into place and move onto the 2nd .. etc

if a coil is bad, ur engine will sound the same as always, meaning nothing will change when u remove that coil ..

I don't have the VAG software, I was debating on buying it but $250 is alot and I'm scared of how complicated it sounds. I used NGK BKR6E plugs.

I had the same thing happen. But I knew right away which coilpack it was because it was quite a bit older than the others.

Yes youre going to have to do the unplugging deal that was mentioned if you dont have vag software

I would definitely just unplug them one at a time. Pulling them up sounds like a bad idea.

    Re: Coil Packs?

Still say its a better idea to just unplug them. Pulling them up while they are operational seems like a good way to damage something or get the crap shocked out of you. Of course either way, removing or unplugging, would work.

It's a CP. Follow the guide or advice above to locate the defective one. Make a run to Audi or VW an pick up a new one, or order some online. Simple fix.
