well i myself will be going gtrs because it is highly advised to do rods with the 71r and you can easily make 250 with the gtrs and the differents in the elim. and the real disco potato is that with the reall gtrs you will need a different manifold it also has alot more flow but im no expert by any means!!!

Elim has a 3 bolt borgwarner flange on a custom exhaust housing so it can bolt to the stock manifold. THe full GT28 has a 4 bolt T25 flange which means a new manifold. Both will put down the same power on a standard tune. People like going with the elim setup because it cost less, looks stock and can still be used with the stock air box.

Yes either of them will put down 250whp.

71r doesnt necesarily means that you have to upgrade rods, as long as you ahve a good tune you`ll be fine. upgrading rods are for those who want to go gt30xx series turbos. But if you want to be in the safe side you can upgrade them with the gt2871r. I mean if you have the money to do rods, might as well go for the gt3071r.

gt28rs will definately reach 250 whp, but you`ll be pushing it harder than the gt2871r.

    Re: opinion on turbo kit

I eventualy want to go BT and started to do searches first on the gt28rs. Then I started to search each upgrade after that. To stay with stock internals, stay with the gt28rs. If you go gt2871r, you will have to upgrade rods if you go with the .63 A/R.

    GT2871r
Now we're talkin serious power. You have pretty much 2 options. The .63/.64 A/R or the .82/.86 A/R. The .63 and .82 are T3 flanged, and the .64 and .86 are T25 flange. T3 flows better. With the .82 you will have more lag, but more topend power. You also will not have to swap out rods. With the .63 you will have much faster spool (20+psi before 4k), but you will have to swap out rods. You will need Tuning, Exhaust Manifold, Custom Intake, VR6/Ford Lightning MAF, 440cc/630cc Injectors, AFPR, MBC/EBC, Exhaust, FMIC, Clutch, New Mounts, and Walbro 255.
FWIW, I am going to a local shop today and ask a quote to swap rods. If you are going to go BT, might as well save a little more money and do it right (nice as to not desire more power in future) the first time. Gt2871r minimum. Though most would say go at least gt3071r. If you go the gt2871r route, then you should def swap rods first so you can maximise the usage of the turbo, otherwise it is sort of a waste. If you don't swap rods, get the gt28rs and call it a day.

*I am by no means an expert. just giving you info on how I view the situation
