Just out for a Sunday drive, when what should appear just in front of me but a 2008 Shelby GT500. Now before someone hijacks this post and tells me all about mine being a luxury sedan and not a race bred muscle car, I will say this, I KNOW. But anyways opportunity presents itself to lineup beside this beast at a yellow turning red. Old dude in the Shelby will not look my way, I see his V1 mounted to the windshield, just before the light goes green, without turning his head(cool customer) he gives me the thumbs up. Light goes green and we're off, quattro has the advantage off the line, his tires bark while trying to gain traction, I hook up quickly make 21psi of boost and take off, second gear he barks the tires again and I hook up smooth, now the I have a car and a half on the beast, into third gear the beast does not bark the tires, he gets a good run as I am shifting and shoots past. End of story no way!!, I run the Audi up to full boost again and close the gap to 1/2 car, then alas a stop sign. Here we see the advantage go back to the Audi, while I slow the Audi to a stop in a controlled manner, the Shelby locks up the wheels in the loose stuff and skids the back end from side to side. At the stop sign a head nod from both of us as we carry on with our sunday drive.....
Like I said I have no misconception or delusion that I have a race car, but the occasional tussle with the Big boys is fun, besides I didn't lose by much. Just glad he didnt hook up well in first and second, if he had this post wouldnt read the same
