I did the red interior light mod and the white licence plate mod with bulbs from superrbrightleds. I now get a licence plate bulb out warning even though they work - why?

LEDs draw ~10x less current than an incandescent bulb of the same type...so the controller 'thinks' the bulb is burned out.

    Re: LED Licence Plate

try looking on 42draftdesigns.com I use their LEDs in my car interior and on the license plate. I never had a problem with their bulbs since they already have the resistor. They provide good customer service, go have a look. I'm running their high intensity hyper white LEDs btw.

Which ones are you using for the license plates, on their site they all say not intended for MKV's or Audi B6's.

Thanks, i will try them out. The crazy thing is that when I also changed the footwell lights for wide angle LEDs, they blew the fuse!! Is it worth all the grief I ask myself??!

    Re: LED Licence Plate

There are a lot of threads on here about this. I've installed LED license plate lights and have done a write up on here. You need a voltage equalizer to get rid of the warning. You can find them online.

I just remembered, the LEDs I have on my license plates are the regular hyper whites. The high intensity 9 LEDs may not fit because size of the housing of the LEDs itself is boxy. You could use the regular fuse style (4 LEDs). My friend had those in his B6 no problems.

These will not blow any fuses, if you install them backwards they will not illuminate. So just turn them around and they will work just fine with no problems. I had these LEDs installed in my previous B5 S4 and now my D2 S8 no problems what so ever, one of the best mods I've done so far!
