We've bought salvage title cars. Newer cars, Only because the seller had pictures of the damage and the rest turned up sound. Other than for the price they're asking, no don't buy it.

7-8k is about right. Take it to get checked out at a frame shop tho. Youve gotta figure that when you need to sell the car its gonna be a pain bc of the same reason so dont pay too much.

I personally think he won't get that asking price. Yes it does have nice miles, but it is salvaged nonetheless. And Santorin w/ wood trim isn't exactly the highest demand color on the market...I say let him sit on his ass for two weeks and throw him a 7k offer and see if he budges. Of course take it to a mech like other people said before doing any of this..

depends on what the salvage was from, major body damage the car is worth for less. stolen interior worth more. and be careful if they tell you one thing then you find out later it was salvage for another reason you cannot do anything since salvage cars are as-is. friend bought a slavage that was told to be stipped interior/airbags, turns out its a katrina car.

Bah, maintenance is going to be coming up soon after.

Get a salvaged car that already had it's maintenance complete, it will also be a lot cheaper.

Check the frame and suspension and what it was salvaged for, for the most part salvages usually do alright. It depends what you want out the car and how long you are keeping it.

yeh unless its a salvage from theft recovery, which is rare, I wouldnt touch it.

You can find yourself a non salvage titel for a bit more, especially at wholesale

have someone hook you up at manheim or another auction

    Re: Salvage title S4..Input please..

mine was salvage.. it was a theft recovery and apperently the thief decided to take it for a joy ride and crash it... I would ask for some before crash pictures if it was crunched at some point in time... that way you can decide if you're ok with the stresses that were put on the car. look in the trunk too, take the spare out.. see if there are any kinks... look at the 2 rails that the engine sits on.. compare the measurements between them to someones clean title s4... and last but not least drive it... listen for noises.... a bad wheel bearing might hint to something for that portion of the car, cause at that mileage they should all be good.

Edit: I should also add, I got mine for 7500 at 62000 miles.. but it needed lights, radiator, intercoolers, bumper, hood, fender... bla bla bla.... lol
