Hello, does anyone know a link to the message display symbols? I'm the third owner of an '01 S4, and I've been searching the FAQ's and archives for over an hour now.
    Thanks for the help.

I'd check your owners manual, what symbol are you seeing?

Sorry, thought I put it in there. The car didnt come with the manual. If I go over 80 mph, the MPH symbol with the #1 on the upper left. Also, I washed my car, and now I got no display. Only when you go over 80. When I start my car, the display shows OK, then shows nothing.

I had the same thing, i looked in the manual and it says exactly what it is.
Basically if you click in the left knob think on the gauge cluster it sets a speed notification at whatever speed your traveling. Then when you exceed that speed it beeps at you and shows you the MPH in the center display. i guess it can help to not speed??? To turn it off i think you click in the left knob thing and hold it for a couple seconds and it should turn off

    Re: Display Center Symbols?

Thanks, I'll try that out. Is the rest if the display linked to that? In other words, if I turn that off, will my display come back on?

Thanks, for all the input. I found the "Display Reset Button" on the A6 forum.

    Re: Display Center Symbols?

try tapping the button facing the floor on the right stalk of the steering wheel controls... it's the reset button but if you tap it it turns the screen on and off - that took me like 2 weeks to figure out when I first got my car... mine didnt come with the owners manual either, heh
